I would replace your PCV valve (valve cover) and have somebody drain your cooling system and refill it with an AIRLIFT. Excessive crankcase pressures will always cause oil leaks and it also sounds like you could possibly have an air pocket hanging out in your cooling system. The AIRLIFT pulls a...
I see labor times as follows:
Inner and outer tie rods - both sides = 1.8hrs
Lower ball joint - both sides = 3.3hrs
Alignment = 2hrs
Total = 7.1hrs
Your local shop labor rates may vary, but I would imagine it to be around $1,000 in labor costs alone.
I found this part explosion in the factory Ford workshop manual.
It looks like as long as you buy the straps, I don't really see a reason why the 2005-2006 skid wouldn't work.
The 2003-2004 fuel tank itself has the 2L1Z prefix and the 2005-2006 has the 5L1Z. Just like the skid plate, the rest of...
I currently do not have a fuel tank skid plate on my rig as the FX4 fuel tank skids are discontinued.
The skid that you just posted has peaked my curiosity, though. I will look into it further when I have some time.
@OverlandExpy - That for sure looks like it would fit the shape of the tank. I am honestly not sure of what changes (if any) that were made to the fuel tanks or mounting straps on the 2005-2006 tanks vs the 2003-2004 tanks. There's certainly one way to find out if it will work, I suppose! :Big...
@OverlandExpy - Cant wait to see the wheel/tire combo! Curious about seeing you make those sliders as well!
In case you are interested, here are the Ford part numbers for the stock FX4 skid plates.
Front Skid Plate - 2L1Z-5D032-AA
Transfer Case Skid Plate - 2L1Z-7E063-AA
Fuel Tank Skid Plate -...
Following this post.
@OverlandExpy - Looks like good progress so far!
I have the 3.5" / 2.5" spacer lift on mine and have had zero issues with my 35" mud terrains on or off road.
I have dreams of lockers and 4.11 gear sets, but she gets around alright for now.
Excited to see this build progress...
I live just north west of Denver and got 28" of snow in 2 days last month. My lifted 2003 Expedition with 35" mud terrains blasted through it with literally no problems at all. I was actually pretty surprised. Didn't drive my wife's lifted Silverado with 33's but just a little bit, but it didn't...
It is called a bull bar. It is just an addition that bolts on to where your front tow hooks go.
They can be found abundantly online for around $100 - $200.
I believe the LED light bar is a 20". A 22" will also likely fit in the same location.
I used a piece of heavy duty square stock steel and...
A simple and light "brake torque", or throttle application of around 1200RPM with the vehicle in gear while holding the brakes, will safely heat the fluid in the torque converter as the engine driven impeller is spinning, but not transferring any motion to the turbine. Once the fluid has reached...
Joezek, did you get your issue straightened out?
What did your fluid level turn out to be?
07Navi, there is a thermostat on modern transmissions. Just like on your engine, it is designed to keep the unit at its designated operating temperature. It is a simple procedure to raise the transmission...
Thanks! It was originally a Calinfornia vehicle. Has been in Colorado under my ownership for the last 4 years now. The paint on the roof is shot and the hood is starting to go, but she is definitely rust free! It is so huge with the lift and the 35" mud terrains, you never see the roof anyway...
