Come on guys. Someone has to know an excellent 5.4L 3V specialist within Virginia or nearby. I occasionally have a startup rattle, and need to decide if to refresh or let go till failure and replace engine.
I have a 2012 Expedition XLT 4x4 with 105,000 miles. Looking at 2015-2017 F150 XLT 4x4 5.0L. Not sure which way to go. I use trailers but like the idea of the truck to toss things in the back without the need of a trailer. F150 has a little more MPG and tow power. Maybe the 5.0L will last longer...
Not sure I need a new thread for this question/same topic;
Anyone know of a 5.4L 3V specialist in or near Virginia? I really don't want to drive 12 hours to see FordTechMakuLoco. Would like to diagnose the health of my engine to see if an oil pump/timing update is a good investment, or just wait...
I have watched Fordtechmakuloco videos.

Replaced back up and fog lights with LED. Want to make headlights brighter, but the LED retro headlight bulbs I see so far, are too bright according to internet info. I don't appreciate being blinded by other's LED at night, so I will not do the same. Might have to go with Sylvania XtraVision or...
My mechanic explained that when plugs get worn, coil packs have to work harder and may fail. He recommended changing plugs a little early. I replaced plugs at 85k.
My front and rear stocks were worn out, so I can't give an accurate comparison to 'stock'. The fronts were starting to leak and rear would hobby-horse over humped railroad tracks and looked to be sagging. I bought spacers for towing purposes, but, after installing the KYB's, the rear leveled up...
I have KYB Strut-Plus assemblies and Michelin LT Defender tires. I 'feel' the road much more than the mushy stock setup. Probably more like an F-150. I am happy!
