    2012 engine fix options?

Has anyone compared dealer cost for the service vs privately owned shop?

    2012 engine fix options?

Come on guys. Someone has to know an excellent 5.4L 3V specialist within Virginia or nearby. I occasionally have a startup rattle, and need to decide if to refresh or let go till failure and replace engine.

Stay the course or Jump Ship?

I have a 2012 Expedition XLT 4x4 with 105,000 miles. Looking at 2015-2017 F150 XLT 4x4 5.0L. Not sure which way to go. I use trailers but like the idea of the truck to toss things in the back without the need of a trailer. F150 has a little more MPG and tow power. Maybe the 5.0L will last longer...

    2012 engine fix options?

Not sure I need a new thread for this question/same topic; Anyone know of a 5.4L 3V specialist in or near Virginia? I really don't want to drive 12 hours to see FordTechMakuLoco. Would like to diagnose the health of my engine to see if an oil pump/timing update is a good investment, or just wait...

    2012 engine fix options?

I have watched Fordtechmakuloco videos. 1) I am concerned if changing to 5w30 oil would blow out the tensioner seals quicker? Seems that 5w20 would flow faster and reach the heads quicker, or, if the seals are already blown, 5w30 would bleed off less and reach the heads quicker? 2) I see some...

Any danger in forcing downshifts? Or lugging engine?

I have a 2012 with 5.4L. Shocked how well it pulls uphill in Tow Mode (Kawasaki Mule Pro-MX on single axle 14 foot trailer). Had seen a spec years ago that 85% of it's torque is very low in the rpm range (forgot the exact number, 1500rpm, maybe?). I also notice that oil pressure remains high at...

What did you do to the expy today

Replaced back up and fog lights with LED. Want to make headlights brighter, but the LED retro headlight bulbs I see so far, are too bright according to internet info. I don't appreciate being blinded by other's LED at night, so I will not do the same. Might have to go with Sylvania XtraVision or...

Change Coil paks along with Spark plugs ?

My mechanic explained that when plugs get worn, coil packs have to work harder and may fail. He recommended changing plugs a little early. I replaced plugs at 85k.

Suspension upgrades - kinda hard to find..

My front and rear stocks were worn out, so I can't give an accurate comparison to 'stock'. The fronts were starting to leak and rear would hobby-horse over humped railroad tracks and looked to be sagging. I bought spacers for towing purposes, but, after installing the KYB's, the rear leveled up...

Suspension upgrades - kinda hard to find..

I have KYB Strut-Plus assemblies and Michelin LT Defender tires. I 'feel' the road much more than the mushy stock setup. Probably more like an F-150. I am happy!

Cam Phasers Do you have to pull the engine?

My mechanic said there is a cam phaser delete available. Do an internet search.

What did you do to the expy today

Recently replaced all shocks with KYB Strut-Plus assemblies, Michelin Defender LT tires. Feels like it has a stout stance and NO bounce over ****** railroad tracks.

Rear AC Blows warm, heat only works on some settings

My 2012 XLT makes a popping sound. Seems to be a common issue; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-WN1p8sWeg

    Bilstein loaded assy?

ditto. Would also like options for towing or off road use, etc.

    Bilstein loaded assy?

Seems that more suspension providers would create their own to sell. I just don't understand why our options are so limited!

    Bilstein loaded assy?

I went with KYB assemblies. They seem to ride real nice with a little firmness and control.

    Bilstein loaded assy?

Had poor experience getting Bilsteins istalled for the rear of my 2012 XLT 4X4 (as posted on this forum from others). Contacted Joseph Smith at Bilstein; he claimed to have put in a request for Bilstein to make rear loaded assemblies (like 6112). Now is a good time for everyone to contact...
