another GEM thread....
i ended up replacing the fuse box...it was corroded really bad...half the fuses were stuck in...like couldn't pull out with pliers bad...all back together now, but abs/ airbag lights are on, and 4wd switch won't work...smh...- Rob White

Drivers door lock not working and drivers window inop
ok this might sound silly...but try it with the vehicle in gear. might be a wet GEM. mine did the same thing...window would only roll down with it in gear....- Rob White

need some advice.. 97 expy
I got the dreaded gem shortout, so i replaced my fuse box (severely corroded) and put the gem in rice to dry it out, (looked good). put everything in with a new (used) fuse panel, old Gem..bingo fired up no problem, but now my power locks don't work (fob or door switch) airbag light is on, and...- Rob White

not replacing it, just pulling it all out to dry out. previous owner just kept stuffing paper towels and bubble wrap to try to keep it dry, it went wacky on me, so i'm pulling it out and a TON of water ran down my arm, and dripping from the fusebox/gem so gonna put it in some rice and dry it...- Rob White

What is the friggin' trick to get the plugs with bolts out? bolts are spinning by hand, but that damned plug won't come out....I'm about to get a air chisel and just shred the whole damned thing and replace the fuse box and gem...lol- Rob White

That famous window leak
i'm thinking of spraying the gem/back of fuse block with that flex-seal, i mean it's rubber right? shouldn't hurt anything right?- Rob White

Well as far as the windshield, I've got a buddy that has a glass shop, so for $125 brand new windshield and sealed all the way around. Then Gem idk about, was going to just get a reman/rebuilt one for it.. might try something i saw on a forum...guy dipped his in a container of rubbing alcohol...- Rob White

Ok so I've figured out it's the gem...pulled it today...and.. well...lets just say by the amount of paper towel AND bubble wrap stuffed behind the gem and fuse box up into the dash...I'm guessing someone's dealt with it before...LOL. Pulled it all out and probably at least a double shot glass of...- Rob White

97 EB gremlin
got a weird one for y'all...parked fine last night...this morning, omw to work...driver window and rear wiper won't work. when i put it in neutral, everything works, back into drive OD off light flashes, A4WD 4WD hi and low all flash at once, window again won't roll down. it will however roll...- Rob White
