Since most of the Gen 1 EB EXP had that color of trim, you should have no trouble finding a piece that does not need painting. and yes, it is attached with double-sided trim tape.

Since you have a 1999 Exp EB, you probably have the 4x4 air-ride shocks. Mine (with 190k miles) makes a similar sound when the air-ride is leveling the cabin.
