    Starter Issue?

Well, i just got my truck back. As I guessed, they threw up their hands and said they could not get it to act up, so there was nothing to fix. Therefore, I have zero confidence that this truck will start reliably. This is the second issue they could not fix. The first was air in the heating...

    Starter Issue?

The reason i think the starter may be an issue is that after running 100 miles and stopping for 15 minutes, the truck failed to start. When you hit the starter button, it tried to crank for less than a second. It did this repeatedly for 8-10 tries. Then it started normally. The long cranks were...

    Starter Issue?

Well, the dealer has had my truck for 2 days. They are saying it is not acting up for them and it threw no codes. The battery tested ok. They have not tested the starter yet. Hopefully I will get it back tomorrow. We shall see. Not impressed at present.

    Expedition is Too High Now

I figured out years ago that factory engineers have a clue. Your ride may not be a race car or a mud buggy, but it is a competent vehicle. It may be boring, but it works.

    2022 XLT vs 2021 XLT

If you are not going to tow or pull it behind a motorhome and 4 low is not a worry, the 22 is newer, but has more miles. It really depends on how you are going to use it.

Moving From 20" to 18" Tires

It’s all about keeping mama comfortable. Last year, we took a 30 mile washboard road to go from a camp site to dinner. Mama hated that ride and we took a 85 mile return trip on asphalt roads. That was on 20” tires at road pressure. I suspect on 18” tires aired down, she would have been ok.

Moving From 20" to 18" Tires

This is the type of trails i am thinking of. Seems like 18” tires aired down would fare better and be more comfortable than 20” tires at road pressures. I plan to remove the lower air dam under the front bumper.

    Starter Issue?

Good to know. I will be inquiring at the dealer tomorrow. If the battery is toast, i would expect them to replace it on their dime as it was new in November 2024,

    Starter Issue?

Could be, but the dealer replaced the battery in Nov 2024.

    Starter Issue?

My 2019 Max 4x4 has started to take its time when starting. This takes 3-5 seconds of cranking before it fires up. Yesterday in the middle of a 200 mile trip, it refused to start and would only try for a second or so. I unplugged my phone which was running maps and it started up. Today, it is...

Moving From 20" to 18" Tires

Thanks for the input. I have round 2 of the cam phaser issue and cannot see paying $5K every 45K miles or so to keep this truck on the road. I am moving on to a RAM Bighorn.

    2019 Limited - Cam Phasers

I hear you. We are retiring this year and will be traveling significantly in our motorhome pulling our truck. Some trips, like to the maritime in Canada and to Alaska are in the plans. I have zero tolerance for pulling a vehicle that could fail at any time. I realize that the cam phaser is...

    2019 Limited - Cam Phasers

"The Ford dealer tried to put the OLD part number in, which was ML3Z-6256-A 1X. Upon further research, I found the new replacement Cam Phasers, which was ML3Z-6C525-A 1X." My CPs went out at 37K miles in 2021. They got replaced with the new part. Now, at 83K miles, they are out again...
