It is true that most rotors today and even for the past 15 or 20 years are not going to be able to be turned once they've been on the car for a while because the pads eat enough away and especially the older semi-metallic ones, which are still my favorite, so you need to replace the rotors most...
That's probably a little extreme for any type of automatic transmission and probably a waste of fluid.
I think even in the most extreme recommendations they only recommended you change the fluid every 30k.
In fact, there can be a point of diminishing returns with changing automatic transmission...
Just saying that most DIYers don't have the specific info.
They have 0420 or 0430 so left of right side below threshold.
90 percent of time they think it could be a bad 02 but 95 percent of those times...it doesn't go away with O2 replacement.
Garages don't care to fully diagnose it even though...
Not commonly because then the primary or upstream O2 would see the overly rich condition vs when the converter is lazy, the 1st O2 reports normal and the 2nd is out of whack.
On standard fuel injected engines where fuel is injected into the intake runners, there would be no backfire from extra...
That's what I mentioned in my previous post. Most of the time it is a lazy converter due to an ignition misfire being driven too long but as I said it's hard for the average person with the most common scan tools to really tell if the O2 sensors are doing their job or not so that's why I said...
I would not change Factory original ones this early. They often go above 200k.
Our last first gen expedition was it 226 when the first cop failed and I'd only replace two of them by the time we got rid of it at 260 k.
Always inspect the rubber boots and any that are really swelled up or cracked...
It almost certainly is from the misfire as that's what always causes this.
Have you gotten all the old gas out of there and added enough that you've driven all the old stuff out yet?
That can make the problem more apparent also and how are those long-term and short-term fuel trims looking.
I had...
That's exactly it! I've seen this so many times and if you read my other post I comment on this too.
An ignition misfire for only a day or two of driving can injure a cat enough to make it lazy or weak.
Try cleaning yours with high percentage isopropyl alcohol or three bottles of that heet fuel...
I have seen over and over throughout the years people replacing oxygen sensors for these codes when it's actually the converter is just weak.
It's usually not on both sides though.
Normally this is from an ignition cylinder misfire at one time or another that was driven longer than they should...
This is why I don't buy newer vehicles or ones with 10 speed transmissions. I don't even want a 6-speed transmission!
Regardless, you were having problems before and obviously they didn't diagnose or fix the problem correctly or even find exactly what the problem was which is typical today...
Currently, there may be not much difference in buying Motorcraft especially since I have a commercial account with several of the dealers in the area and sometimes that discount is pretty good versus buying the ones at the local auto parts store because their prices have gone up so much..
If...
Haha, that's the first time I've seen that acronym used and it's kind of cool.
I'm not certain it's actually accurate though or did you mean Normally everyone except Napa??? Lol
Because most of the other auto parts stores especially the big three have been pretty nice and even back in the 80s...
Well, I'm pretty much pessimistic and everything but then I'm kind of optimistic because I just wing it out for the best and it almost always works out well if not perfectly.
Now on these 20 to 41 dollar brake pads... How long have you been doing your own brakes? If you've only been doing it...
Cool. Yes, when you're replacing rotors or whatever I do have a hard time bringing myself to use old pads even on a cheap regular style rotor so I will usually take the old ones off and just save them for a potential backup if they have lots of pad left on them.
I have ended up with a nice...
