99 EB - factory amp/sub with aftermarket HU?

I have a double din head unit I want to put in my 99 EB, which currently has the 6 disc changer and factory amp/sub. Is there any way I can re-use the factory amp for the subwoofer? I definitely want to keep the sub box, and I have already replaced the blown stock 8" sub with a RF one. Would it...

    More head unit/navigation install questions

I am starting the process of installing an Alpine INE-S920HD into my 99 EB, but I have a few questions. I've installed plenty of aftermarket head units before, but never one with navigation/DVD features. I've already got the speaker and power wires soldered up to the adapter harness, but I'm...

Aftermarket head unit with factory amp/sub?

Thanks guys, I found the harness I need. This is the one I ordered, in case anyone else finds this thread needing the same thing: Amazon.com: Metra 70-5701 Wiring Harness for Select Ford Vehicles with Premium Sound and RCA: Car Electronics

Aftermarket head unit with factory amp/sub?

I'm looking at installing a double din aftermarket head unit into my 99 EB, but I'm not sure what I will need to keep the stock amp and sub working. Is there an adapter harness I can buy that will allow me to use the pre-amp outputs on the new head unit?

    New tires installed

I got the coil spacers for about $150 off ebay. I got the tires from a local tire shop for $800 installed - they're basically Toyo M/T knockoffs.

    New tires installed

I finally got around to getting some new tires today, after installing my daystar 2" rear coil spacers, and cranking the torsion bars up 1" in the front. The tires are 285/70/17 Thunderer M/T, E load range on navigator wheels.

    Hesitating and Stalling

Have you ever replaced your coil packs and plugs? I suspect one of the coils is failing intermittently, when it gets hot. I had a similar issue, and replacing all of the coils solved it.

    2 pcv valves????

I think you're looking at the breather tube. Does it have a hose that connects to the intake duct, in front of the throttle body? The PCV valve draws fresh air in through the crankcase by pulling vacuum on the passenger valve cover. Fresh air is drawn through the intake ductwork, through the...

If you're doing plugs, change the coil packs as well. I had a similar problem with mine, and new coil packs solved it.

    Overheating

Well, I believe I have solved the problem. The short answer is, the (brand new) radiator was plugged with sediment. The coolant was nasty when I got this truck, and I guess by flushing it and replacing parts last weekend, I dislodged a bunch of sediment that gathered in the radiator. I...

    Overheating

I didn't get any bubbles in the coolant, and the block test kit tested negative for exhaust in the coolant tank. I haven't ruled out a head gasket leak, I guess it could be intermittent.

    Overheating

Well, I bled the cooling system again. This time I parked on an incline, let the engine run up to operating temp with the coolant cap off. I didn't really have any big air bubbles come out, and I made sure the level was where it should be. I drove it all around the neighborhood, down side...

    2001 Expy XLT engine sputter/fail

I wouldn't bother with the performance ones, I doubt they're worth it. I bought a set off ebay for about $100, and yes it cleared up my issue completely. I have read that these engines are picky about spark plugs, most people seem to recommend either motorcraft or autolite. I went with autolite...

    2001 Expy XLT engine sputter/fail

Have you ever replaced your coil packs? I had a similar issue with mine, no check engine light, and stuttering/hesitating at medium load. I fixed it by replacing all 8 coil packs and spark plugs.
