99 EB - factory amp/sub with aftermarket HU?

I have a double din head unit I want to put in my 99 EB, which currently has the 6 disc changer and factory amp/sub. Is there any way I can re-use the factory amp for the subwoofer? I definitely want to keep the sub box, and I have already replaced the blown stock 8" sub with a RF one. Would it be easiest to just use an aftermarket amp for the sub? Also, did the first gen expys ever come with a factory amp for the main speakers as well?

I'm pretty sure your 99 has the same connectors as the radio in my 04. If you get the right adapter harness it will have an RCA connector to allow you to keep the stock amp and wiring for the sub.

I just put a bigger amp in mine and it made a huge difference in the little 8" sub. I replaced the sub with a Sony one about a month ago. That was a big improvement over the stock sub even while I ran the stock amp for a few weeks,

am I reading this as you truck came with the factory amp/sub and all youre doing is changing the head unit? if so you wont need a harness for the sub...shouldn't if it is like our 04 trucks...I swapped my head unit and with the harness wiring harness I used ONLY for the head unit install...all my speakers and sub worked...the harness just connected the head unit to the factory wiring harness for the radio...nothing more...so if it is playing fine now it should play fine after the swap...no rcas or anything UNLESS you add extra subs and amp...I had it this way until I added 2-12s in the back and I just used a line out converter to the sub amp for the signal and hooked up my external amp for my 12s...too easy
