Looks like the previous owner put a custom exhaust on the expy. What that did was change the location of the O2 sensor. Once the exhaust was installed there wasn't enough room for the O2 sensor and the firewall/body. I'm guessing he just decided to plug the hole and snip the wires. I actually had to cut a hole into the body to be able to install the O2 sensor and then tacked in a plate over the hole. It was more than I was expecting but I wasn't gonna let a P2195 code beat me!

Sam, is the backfire gone? It probably was the sensor. It never ceases to amaze me the butchery that goes on with both car, and motorcycle repair. All usually to save a buck. This is what can happen when a person installs an aftermarket part, that wasn't made for on road use. Good job on correcting your backfire problem, and code, along with rerouting the wires. I don't know if this will help, but speed shops, and motorcycle shops sell a high heat exaust wrap, that you could wrap around the wires. We used it at my bike shop, whenever we had an aftermarket exaust that was near wires like in your situation.

Backfire is gone and no more codes. I'm not concerned about the wires so much but the rubber lines for the AC pressing against the O2 sensor.

What about some sort of plastic separator like we have on other parts of the vehicle. The hoses pop into the clip, and protects just what your talking about. Chafing, and possible heat. They come in all different sizes.
