Not sure how to describe this. Occasionally when trying to start my 2003 exp, turn the key, makes sort of a strange sound, doesn't crank at all, seems to go dead, Try again, its like the battery is dead. After a couple more attempts, fires right up, runs beautiful and everything operates normally. One time when it did that, it even lost all the programmed stations on the radio and the clock as well. It just started doing this a couple days ago. Anyone have any ideas? It is just weird, and I have no clue what to lok for.

Suggest you follow the advice of Boostedbus: have batt tested, buy new if needed, clean batt posts of corrosion, check condition of batt cables.

If new batt is suggested, Costco offers the best value. They only carry Interstate.
Costco does not install new batts, but you are allowed to swap out in the parking
lot saving you a return trip for core refund.
