Hello Everyone,

So we have a 2019 Expedition that I think has bad rear Struts/Shocks. I noticed that they have oil running down the tube. I did some searching and I found some documentation that might help us get these replaced by Ford. My 2019 is still under extended warranty so I might give it a try.
Below you will find the report. Hopefully this helps someone!!

Good luck with getting Ford to replace under their dimes.

I had one rear replaced by Ford on my '11. They argued with me over shock vs strut (Extended warranty only covers the latter), but I called my mechanic and he said: "Put him (the tech) on the phone and I'll explain the difference to him." The tech just kept saying things like "Uh huh, right, ok, yep." Then he handed me back the phone and told me it would be covered. :D

p.s. Ford's shocks/struts are trash. If they need to be replaced on your dime, get something else.

Good luck. I see your point on this matter. The phone call was handled by a Service Tech not by the Service Manager. If replacement is done by an outside repair shop you would have to bring old parts back with your out of pocket bill for a ford dispersement. This could take some time for an authorized reimbursement or a partial refund. Ford has that option even to deny the claim all together.

My shocks were leaking at 500 miles ford scheduled an appointment and then called back and at the time there was a 6 month back order. I couldn't risk driving a high center of gravity vehicle with defective shocks so I had a local shop install Bilstein shocks sand I'm very happy with them

I’ve had this problem twice now. First time at about 10k with the front two leaking. Second time all four were bad and the left rear completely dumped oil on my new driveway. They were replaced and covered by Ford both times. However there was some mention of struts vs. shocks being covered and it may have been covered under service warranty. I tried to have them replace with Bilsteins the second time and pay the difference but they wouldn’t do it.
