Hi everyone, I'm having a hard time figuring out if I can upgrade this or how. I contacted my local stereo shop and they said can't be done because of the HVAC controls and they don't want to touch it. I found 1 OEM upgrade on infotainment but it doesn't have the rear air controls on the bezel and they haven't gotten back to me about that yet (I need the rear air my truck is full of kids).

SO has anyone successfully upgraded the 4" sync screen? If you did, can you please link to me what you changed yours to and how? I'm struggling with this.

Many thanks! Any help is appreciated!

I looked all over for something a couple years ago and found nothing except that flat screen where you lose the rear controls.

The kenwppood dxr1058xr with the meastro unit will work. its expensive, almost 2k when you buy everything but it adds a 10 inch screen (or something like that). there is also a sync 3 upgrade you can get off ebay for 500 or so(can't remember what it was) I had other issues, no volume with factory radio. I have a thread on it. i went with the kenwood and a aftermarketr amp so i have music again. (well, i will have its not hooked up yet) In process of installing it now. I had to wait because my ecu crapped out too. lol

Just came across your post. These guys have what you need…

Infotainment: Expedition Radio Upgrades

This looks promising.

Don’t know about rear air controls, you might want to email their support and ask. I would think you’d still have that with this upgrade, but I can’t say for sure.

You may be able to use FORscan to enable rear air controls after you install this.
