2012 Exp EL Base Model Suspension Problems

Typically, an alignment is not needed when replacing struts (unless they remove other components to get them in). But it does sound as if you do need one since the tires are wearing unevenly, and this is considered a wear and tear maintenance item that most bumper to bumper warranties do not...

New member with at Parts question

What's your mileage? Still in warranty? If not, junk yard or dealer would be the likely choices, or maybe ebay. Find a part number and do an internet search and something might come up.

What did you do to your expedition today?

I replaced the upper control arms, lower control arms, and end links on the front end today. It needs an alignment now, but the difference in ride quality is night and day. It is soooo smooth over any road irregularity it rides like new (as it should!). I still need to get the new tie rod ends...

2008 fleet model XLT, add third row seat?

Just remember the rear trim panels also have to be replaced when installing the seat belts, and I wouldn't count on those being the same between the '04 and '08.

2008 fleet model XLT, add third row seat?

I would think it would fit too, but I would highly doubt a Ford dealer would know whether or not it would fit. Your best bet would be to measure the cargo area, and determine whether the bolt holes are in the same place.

    Any clue what to do??

I am assuming this is a second gen as mine has done the same thing. It will most likely be an open circuit on the throttle postion sensor. It happened to me 3-4 times a year over a couple of years. I removed the TB, and thoroughly cleaned it with TB cleaner and haven't had a problem since...

    Supercharging my 05' 5.4L 3V

14 is a bit much for a stock engine. I would say 10, maybe 12 would be the safest max boost. FYI, Lightnings only came stock with 8 lbs.

MOOG part vrs "asian specs" MOOG parts

I just found out that MOOG has an "R" spec line that uses generic parts, and those parts aren't always the same manufacturer. Case in point are the two lower control arms I just got from Rock Auto that have two different ball joints on them. Not Rock Auto's fault, just would have...

Want to do my own break work...any good online retailer?

I think it might be brakemotive76 or something like that. Not sure of the exact number after the name.

Want to do my own break work...any good online retailer?

I and others here have used a seller on ebay called brakemotive. I have had my rotors for a year with better stopping power than the OEM rotors and pads.

Spark Plug Removal - Electrodes Question

I'm pretty sure that the tap will only go down into the sleeve so far, and the removal tool will only thread on to that point, so you should be OK. The tap just pushes the electrode down while threading, so if it isn't there, you should have no issues. I had 6 broken ones, but none had the...

    Doors dont unlock

Sorry, I misread your original post. If your unlock button works to unlock the front doors, then it's most likely the actuators that are bad in the rear doors. If the unlock button didn't work on any of the doors, the master panel would have to be replaced.

    Doors dont unlock

Does the passenger unlock button work? If so, you most likely need a new master switch panel for the driver's door.

    2012 5.4 engine failure??? Help

Have you ticked anyone off lately? The only way to get that much water in the oil would be a bad head gasket leak, or someone intentionally put it in there. I cannot believe that condensation could be bad enough to cause engine failure.

    MOOG front end change...

I'm in the same boat. Been having a clunk everytime I start from a dead stop, and the dealer checked it out when I was there for an oil change and said the lower Ball Joints were toast. I have 103K on my '06, so I just bit the bullet and am replacing both upper and lower control arms with MOOG...

    2012 5.4 engine failure??? Help

Hopefully you still have the receipts. Without those, there is no way to prove you actually did the oil changes. This is one of the reasons I usually shy away from doing any maintenance myself prior to warranty expiration. Heck, even now, 4 years out of warranty, I still have the oil changed...

    Supercharging my 05' 5.4L 3V

I'm pretty sure the 3V engines don't use the same manifold as the Lightnings. You would have to make a custom one to retrofit the SC on top. I remember someone doing it for the 32V Navigator engine, but not the 3V.

2004 Expy EB 5.4 dying while at speed

Does the engine drop to idle, or completely die? If it just drops to idle, the TB/TPS is the most likely culprit. If it completely dies, a Fuel pump/relay or fuel filter could be the issue.

    $464 Later.....

Probably due to the age of the vehicle too as the corrosive effect is also due to the dissimilar metals (aluminum and steel) contacting each other. So I would say a combination of age and mileage.

    $464 Later.....

I was in a bind. Car wasn't running Thursday night, and I needed it back by yesterday so I could use it for a furniture delivery this morning. Unfortunately I had no time to look into it myself, or a code reader, so I had to rely on the dealer. The part from them was $180, and the rest was...

Just looked up the part number, and by the looks of it, 2005-2008 Expys use it. PN 6C2Z-9D372-A

    $464 Later.....

I got the Expy back home. After I had it towed to the dealer after it died coming to a stop light, it turned out that the dreaded Fuel Pump Driver Module located above the spare tire had gone out. I guess all the snow and salt this winter had a negative effect, and corroded the module like so...
