I know I’ve said I’d never get rid of it, but the time has come to get rid of my 2000 Eddie Bauer. If you haven’t seen it, you can follow along with my history of it here:

Ultimately, I was going through radiators too...
so my next chapter of fan related issues takes me to the engine fan.
I was driving home yesterday, going up the eastern approach to the Eisenhower Tunnel while running 4000 rpms and 70 mph for most of that run. It's a steep, 2000 foot climb over just a couple miles- 9100 feet to 11,100 feet...
2000 Eddie Bauer with the EATC and rear air.
I recently had the driver side lower dash taken apart to replace the turn signal relay. Turn signals now work. Coincidentally the front blower does not work at all. No positions (floor, vent, defrost...). The display of the EATC does work. I can...
unfortunately not the "what kind of badass custom bumper should I get" decision.
A little over a year ago I was a dumbass while trying to install some auxiliary backup lights in my rear bumper. I made some templates for the hole cutouts, I measured where to put them so they'd be even, I...
so I've only got a single key for my Expedition. From what I understand, it's expensive to get more keys made because I need to go to the dealer to do it.
But here's my idea........
The PATS system doesn't know if a PATS programmed key is in the ignition, it just needs to be near enough to...
It's no secret these 1st gens are getting up there in age. Some of the 1997 model year trucks will be turning 20 years old very soon. And with age comes issues- whether it be from parts wearing out or parts being impossible to find or who knows what......
And with age comes miles. Mine just...
how would smoked headlight housings on a black 1st gen look?
I've been thinking about replacing mine as they are cloudy.
Or should I stick with the "regular" look of the factory lights?
I've been spending a bunch of time in the Excursion section over at Ford-Trucks lately. Not because I want an Excursion but because that section seems to be pretty active and those trucks have a few things in common with ours.
I ran across this: using the finned aluminum differential cover...
I've noticed when air temps are over 90 degrees, my AC performance while idling isn't the greatest. But moving on the highway at 50+ mph, it seems to cool quite well.
The fan clutch has some resistance while spinning by hand (checked today after parked for 3 hours) but it's not significant...
I'm installing a JVC DVD player into my 2000 EB with the Mach sound system, rear sub and rear audio controls.
Crutchfield sent me the Metra 70-5517 harness. I am reasonably certain I wired the JVC harness to the Metra harness correctly. The only thing I haven't double checked is if the...
So it was 70 degrees yesterday but today we are getting hit with a bunch of very wet snow. It's the kind of snow that makes great snowballs, snowmen and snow forts.
But apparently when you drive in it for several miles, it builds up underneath and I can't shift into R or P.
Anyone ever...
I suspected my throttle cable has been stretched for awhile and finally got around to checking. Acceleration felt sluggish for a 5.4l and I figured with almost 190,000 miles that there was a good chance it was stretched.
I could feel some slack in the cable at the throttle body but to see...
For anyone that's ever driven in icing conditions, you know that regular fluid usually doesn't help and the HVAC defroster sometimes can't keep up. Colorado typically doesn't have those conditions, but I bought this over a year ago when I was driving about 150 miles a day and never installed it...
Added a middle seat inverter today. I've had this small little inverter for years. I have no idea if it's a modified sine wave or true sine wave inverter- for the price I remember paying, probably a modified sine wave. Anyway, it's good for charging various things: DVD players, cell phones...
While driving home on the interstate, I noticed a sudden smell of coolant. I pulled over and found one of the heater hoses had popped off.
Back when I did the intake manifold (August), I had those hoses disconnected. When I reconnected it today, I couldn't get it on tight. There's maybe 1/2"...
Most of the time I have the fuse pulled on my 4wd system. The front axle binds like it's engaged while making tight turns with the fuse in. So until I have the switch wired up for the BWM, I have to mess with that fuse.
Today it snowed a decent amount and I drove to work entirely in 4HI...
I've been reading about how radiators on 1st gens fail by cracking the plastic end tank right above the lower radiator hose attachment. What I haven't got a good handle on is when this typically happens.
In a prior life, I used to drive a Saturn S-series. They were known for a similar...
So I've been noticing that my front bumper isn't as tight to the body as others I see. Check it out:
What do you think? Is there enough slop in the bumper attachment so I could slide it up? Or is there some kind of other "problem" going on here?
Would an exhaust meant for an F-150 of similar years (say the 2000 year range) work on an Expedition of that same year range? Possibly with some minor modifications? Perhaps to its length or something?
Or just get a better muffler and have it put on and not mess with the whole F-150...
1st gen Expeditions share a lot with the F-series. Some parts are worth swapping, some parts aren't.
2003 F-150 w/7700 gvw front brake calipers to get the metal pistons instead of the plastic pistons that come in Expedition calipers.
Or a 2 core radiator with the P/N: F75Z8005GA
Who...
Driving home tonight my battery light was on. I flipped my ScanGauge over to Volts and it was showing 11.1-11.5 volts depending on RPM.
Every other car I've had prior to this pointed immediately to the alternator because the voltage regulator was integral. Now I see I can replace either on...
When I bought my EX, the rear of the front passenger side door trim was coming off. Today I took it all the way off to clean it and apply some moulding tape to stick it back on.
But what does the peanut gallery say? Leave it off? If I did that, I'd take off the rest of the gold trim on the...
The front passenger side lower moulding is coming up a little on the trailing edge. What's the best way to stick it back down?
Or.... should I just remove it all together?
I've noticed that F-150s that have the same body style as 1st gen Expeditions tend to have seats with adjustable headrests.
I'm guessing it's a straight swap, right?
Being 6'-6'1", the fixed headrests are a little short for my liking.
