Dang that's super lucky that they didn't come apart! That seems like it happens to everyone who tries to remove those style plugs. Are you putting conventional plugs back in or going with that three piece style again? That is if they even sell those anymore...
Put 4 new LED's in the front. The old ones did not survive the extreme cold of last winter so I picked up some metal shelled ones hoping they work a bit better.
If it were my project, I would hunt for a Southern truck with a blown motor (bad version, not the good version haha) or something of that nature. $500 will buy it, and $500-1000 will ship it to you so you don't miss work. And you could look for a 97-98 to get that center axle disconnect, which...
You could get a clear valve cover! But not really worth hassle most likely. It will be a real bummer if it ends up having to come out. Can you tell if all of the upper assembly on that side is getting oiled from the ports?
New brake pads in the rear drivers corner. I had replaced the rear passenger in -5 degree weather this winter, and thankfully the other side was able to hold out until the weather warmed up a bit.
Also used her to pull home a new go kart haha. It has an old junk Yamaha motor in it that we...
When were the plugs and coils last changed? If it is happening in all gears, it is either engine related or torque converter related, and that doesn't really sound like TC to me. I have had it where I was getting bad misfires and had to kick her down to get the truck moving. New plugs and...
The truck should take 6 quarts at least. I guess I have never paid that close of attention, I just add oil until it is at the top of the dipstick regardless if it was just running or not. I figure worst case it has a little extra in the system which won't hurt. Having too little on the other...
Usually rumbling is either hub or CV axle. When you turn in a tight circle going right, does it feel like the wheel skips or hops? If so its most likely a CV. If not and it just keeps grinding, its probably a wheel hub. I have replaced way more wheel hubs than CV axles so the hub is a good...
Just a thought, this is what I have been doing with my sunglasses. I have been placing them on the shift lever near on the steering column. I keep safety glasses in the storage compartment up above so I have no room for my sunglasses other than the center storage area in front of the console...
Both sides should be done since you will need to have the truck aligned. Lower control arm does not have to be replaced as a unit like the upper. You can just drive out the ball joint using a ball joint press that is rented from O'reilly or Autozone for free.
Upper ball joints are fairly...
Lower ball joints. Grease dries out and metal on metal causes squeaking. If you don't fix them soon, you will start to get squeaking when turning the wheels too.
It isn't by chance flooded in some cylinders is it? I don't think intake cleaner would cause an issue since it doesn't pass through the injector itself. My guess is that there is either dirt that fell into some of the fuel injector connectors, too much fuel in the cylinders, or the injectors...
Probably not a noticeable amount of added power. Basically all it does is give a better intake sound, though some do say they see a 1-2 mpg increase. When I put my K&N filter into the truck, I tracked RPM's before and after, and with the new filter it ran about 100rpm's less at the same speeds...
It definitely looks like a block heater cable haha. Can't really imagine any other reason for a 110A plug to be on a truck other than that. Check the wiring harness behind the bumper to see if you can find a spot to plug it in. The P.O. might have taken it off thinking they would never use it.
How old is the battery? Could be a bad battery not wanting to charge any higher than 11.3 but I agree as long as the vehicle is running it should be at about 14v. Make sure the terminals don't have crud on them that would be interfering with the reading too...
Saw-zall here. Pretty much no way to turn it out without bringing down the tank. I cut the trailing arm in half, and then cut the bolt/remaining chunk out from there.
I would be skeptical that it is actually a 5.0, but its possible!?! If it is indeed a 5.0 then it was a custom addition by the last owner. It is really cool to have in an Expy, but not sure it's really all that special. The 302 was the common Ford V8 before the Modular engine (4.6, 5.4, 6.8)...
Yeah the front lower bolts were not a good design. The head (13mm I think it was) rounded off when I tried to change them, on both sides. Ended up having a shop cut them out since I don't own a torch. Ford changed the design on the 2nd gens, they have mammoth lower shock bolts compared to the...
