Check the oil in 2003 Ford Expedition 5.4 L and found this vacuum line near the engine oil dip stick. Pulled the plastic cover off of the throttle body to look if it went under there. I have no idea where it goes and think that is why my service engine light is on. I attached a photo where you can see a line with a screw in it near the oil dip stick.

This line would not be able to reach the EGR valve. I'm looking at online photo for that area and think the line goes up under or near the brake fluid reservoir.
I'll let you know.

get the code read also if that line was cut it may be had to know where it went Having the code may give a good idea as to what is wrong

also look under the hood to see if there is a diagram that shows the vacuum hose routing and connections

I just went and looked at my 03 w/5.4. It appears as if this is actually a vent line of some sort. The open end starts under the brake fluid reservoir, goes down, and Tees into another line, with one leg going toward the forward and the other going toward the aft. That's as far as I got, as we're getting ready to leave.

If I can find out more info, I'll post it later.

(Sorry about no pic. I took one, but I'm not sure how to post it. I don't do this forum stuff too often) :(

I left you a message regarding posting pictures.

OK kjws61, I went and checked this line out further. Is your Expy 4x4? It looks like the branch of the Tee that appears to go toward the aft actually goes directly down to the left front wheel. Are the automatic hubs vacuum actuated? If so, it looks like it might be part of the vacuum system for the automatic hubs. The side that goes toward the forward of the vehicle actually goes over to the starboard side and ties into a solenoid that's mounted to the firewall right near the battery. That's as far as I got. Any Ford techs with any more insight?

Thanks for the info, FordandPolaris. I'll look into photobucket.

You are correct it is a Vent Line for the vacuum actuators at the wheel for 4x4. They place the vents under the hood so as to not be clogged by mud or other road debris.
There will be another one located on the passenger side of the engine.
