I think what he is saying is sometimes people bring up an option he might not have considered. So for that reason it is worth putting it out to the world and seeing what it says.
I take a lot of flak for having plasti-dipped wheels and trim, etc. I think it looks better than chrome, so screw those guys haha. I do like the look of the steelies though.
Have you checked fuel pressure? The pump might have gone out. Or is not pumping adequate pressure for starting all the time. There should be a Schrader valve on the passenger side fuel rail that you can connect a pressure gauge to. O'Reilly, Autozone, etc. rent them out for free.
Put jackstands underneath the frame and change it with those under there. I would jack it up and then rest it on the stands, instead of just having them sit there with the truck floating above them.
As much as I do recommend the coil swap, if the air suspension still works, no sense in...
There is a Jay87LX (I think that's his tag) that fixed his rockers using the online ones. I can't imagine how they would possibly just slip on without welding. I just found softball size holes in my rockers so I will be doing the same thing this summer probably...
Here is a link to his...
Do you by chance have the wiring diagrams for the PATS, etc.? I have seen you post some before but not sure which ones you do and don't have.
Otherwise a Chilton manual would have some wiring diagrams. I can try and scan them from my copy but not sure how well it will turn out.
EDIT: I...
+1 on Tom's advice. My trailing (control) arms had holes the size of silver dollars in them when I replaced mine. I have only done the lower arms since the upper ones are not as prone to rusting through.
I also used PMT. Kind of on the expensive side, but they serve a very important...
My guess is that it was missing during snow melt? Water was probably getting past the boot causing the spark to ground to the block and not the plug. Water evaporates, no more miss. Replacing the boot on plug 1 might help, and some of the parts houses sell just the boots for like 5-10 bucks...
I would love to hear a clip of that. I have mine essentially that way, but the pipe ends right before the rear axle so it isn't probably as loud. Life's too short to have quiet things.
I agree with you, I drive with O/D off around town to have more responsiveness, instead of having to wait to shift out of top gear. But still, i would be much more concerned if it were reversed, and ran fine with O/D off and bad with O/D on.
I will try to find some info on what all changes...
I purchased the whole assembly for $20 from a parts yard. Keep both of your eyes (spring is under a lot of tension) and just replace the whole piece. Have a helper though.
Does your O/D light flash when acting funky? Honestly if it runs fine with O/D on, drive with it on haha. Unless you are pulling one very large trailer towing with O/D is not a big deal. Basically it is available to prevent hunting for gears while pulling heavy loads.
Or 100 degrees and you are wearing shorts... I put black fake leather seat covers on mine over the cheap pleather seats and holy smokes I have about caught fire before...
Unfortunately 100k is right about the time things start wearing out, and they tend to wear out all at once. Little bit of repair work and she will run pretty good I bet.
Welcome to the forum.
Everything black on my truck is plasti-dip. It holds up pretty good, and can be pressure washed without worry. If you don't like it or decide to do something different, it comes off in a big sheet. I would give it a shot, even if it is just to hold you over until you can find something even...
Hmm well if he has such a new truck with cranks it is possible that F-150's from the same era would have had cranks too. I don't know for sure if an F-150 door is a straight swap for an expy door but it might be a place to start to look for non-jerry rigged regulators.
I have just looked at a...
Best I can figure on the tag is that L=LSD, 55=3.55, 9 75=9.75in Ford rear end (Expy's came with either the 9.75 or 8.8) and OD for overdrive in the trans. Basically it just identifies exactly the kind of axle used in case it needs to be replaced.
Mine hums, my gma's explorer hummed from the...
Anything is possible, but man you love to make a lot of work for yourself haha. I would seriously doubt anyone has done it so you are on your own as far as design...
I would guess since manual windows have not been used since the 80's in Ford trucks, you would have to rig your own operator...
Haha trust me I know what the front of a Raptor looks like :head3: And I also knew the reason the Raptors use them. They also have one side marker LED on the front of each fender in order to be DOT compliant (Need 5 lights if over a certain width).
The way my grille is set up, there is no...
OK so I figured I would update this thread. So far I have had two of the four lights burn out. I think it was the ridiculously cold weather we had this winter. At 5 bucks apiece they aren't too expensive to replace and super easy to change out.
