The blocks should be the same. The lower end should also be the same since stroke and displacement never changed. Only difference would be the type of Pistons. My plan was to build a 5.4 using non PI motor Pistons with PI motor heads. Brings the compression up to 10.5:1 I think if I remember my...
I would do a compression test on that cylinder. It clearly is burning quite a bit of oil, if it has no compression, the motor needs a rebuild anyways. You can rent the tester for free from most auto parts stores.
You could just switch a coil pack from a known functioning cylinder to see if the misfire moves or stays put. Also, with that many miles, fuel injectors could be an issue as well.
I would also check power at the pump. If you get power when the vehicle is first started out of the harness, the pump probably retired.
On a side note, I'm an Eagle Scout, learned a ton of stuff from the Scouting program.
I whole heartedly agree with you that you will get more air out of a CAI, but the issue is that the engine spends the majority of its life under 4000rpms and simply doesn't need the air. You can put a big 12inch intake pipe right out the grille but the MAF will only open the TB wide enough for...

You can google gotts mod and see write-ups for your particular model truck, its all about the same idea though.
I also felt a difference doing a k&n filter/silencer delete/gotts mod, and I get cold fender air :)
The restrictor in the system is the fender hole. That's why cai's are effective, but widening the opening with the gotts mod gives the engine all the air it ever needs for a stock application...
It will slide over fine but it will leak like a sieve. Use an adaptor. Also the 2.45 is probably 2.5 Inside diameter. Make sure whatever is sliding over that is 2.5 Outside diameter
If it is the heavy duty tow package, then there will be a small external trans cooler behind the front bumper. There is a difference between the two package and HD tow package
I would personally. Just based on what I have read in the past, ethanol can gum up motors. And at 10 cents per gallon in a 30 gallon tank (what my truck has), you are paying an extra 3 bucks. Buy roxy is right, post the codes, could be something completely different.
I live in the salt lands and was able to press mine out fairly easily. Worth a try before buying the lower control arm cause it's much cheaper to just buy the ball joint.
Agreed. My O2 sensors are stuck beyond belief so I have just been dealing with the bad smell and gas mileage. When it gets cold here I drop to about 7mpg's on 87 octane, but if I switch to 89, it goes back up to the normal 12-14mpg's. I think it's the particular winter blend at the Brand gas...
Wait I thought you just said your bushings look ok? Do the ball joint test of wiggling the tire back and forth with hands 12 and 6. Any play and that lower ball joint has to go.
I can pretty much hear that sound in my head and I can promise it's gonna be that lower ball joint. I have 3 squeak...

Make sure to check these. I know they have been mentioned but they are almost always the cause. It's very possible that one has fallen completely out and is now missing. It needs to have two.
(I just copied my post from the other thread on the same...
Make sure the metal is actually cracked, and it's not just paint cracking from metal that was flexing under the strain of the door. That would not surprise me based on Ford's paint issues with the 2nd gen.
The clear ones are normally the OEM originals. I am guessing the previous owners were changing them as they went bad. Depending where you live, it's a good idea to change them before winter because extreme cold brings out the worst in electrical components, and changing a COP at the back of the...

If you buy the parts, you also have the benefit of knowing they are new and not out of old trucks too. Be careful of that stuff with internet services, they can be hard to track down.
