Let me start by saying that I did a search before posting this and couldn't find quite what I was looking for. What would be perfect is for someone who's done this exact thing before to come in with how they did it.

I'm wanting to swap the muffler only or on my expy. Going to go with a borla or magnaflow. Center inlet, offset inlet, right? I know I'll have to add a length of pipe. Here's where it gets fuzzy. I measured the inlet and outlet of the pipes, and got 2.45 and 2.25, respectively. I'm wanting to use 2.5 inch muffler. Will the muffler outlet slide over the 2.25 tailpipe and be able to be clamped (or will I need an adapter)? What about the inlet and extension? Like I said, if you've done this yourself, I'd appreciate your input. I'm not interested in taking this to an exhaust shop. Can't afford it. Thanks.

It will slide over fine but it will leak like a sieve. Use an adaptor. Also the 2.45 is probably 2.5 Inside diameter. Make sure whatever is sliding over that is 2.5 Outside diameter

I used a magnaflow muffler and pieced together the Dynomax 3" cat back kit. This was half the cost of the magnaflow kit because the dynomax isn't stainless. Got everything from amazon except the tailpipe and intermediate pipe. I got the tail pipe from rock auto and the intermediate from summit. Here's the parts I used

Magnaflow 12579 Stainless Steel 3" Oval Muffler
Dynomax 33226 Stainless Steel Hardware Clamp Band
Dynomax 33272 Stainless Steel Hardware Clamp Band
Dynomax 36389 Exhaust Hanger
Dynomax Performance 53036 - Walker Intermediate Pipe
Dynomax WALKER 45739 Tail Pipe

You could go with a shorter muffler than the one I used if you want it louder. The one I used is pretty quiet. Here's a link. Hope this helps.
