All depends how big of a suspension lift you're thinking? Bilstein makes a quality road shock. So does KYB from what I've heard.
I have rancho's in my truck and they are nice off road but they are way too springy on road.
I ordered the arms through their website I think. I think I just bought grade 8 bolts that were the same length and thickness. Though for as much as those trailing arms cost, they might have come with them too. It was a while ago so I can't say for sure. A phone call to PMT would answer the...
I cut the bolt by the tank. I am guessing that the axle was attached before the tank went in because there was no way that sucker was coming out.
I put PMT arms in mine but they were like 225 for a set. Still I know they'll be good forever because of their design
Well all I can suggest is replacing at least the plug, then try trading the wires around to see if the problem moves to another cylinder (to clear the wire as the cause), and if those produce no results, the fuel injector would be next.
A crack in the porcelain of a plug can allow it to jump to...
Can you see coolant or anything in the valley? I have heard that the intakes on the early 4.6's were made of plastic and tended to crack. Also check coolant hoses in that area for leaks.
Double check that the wires are going to the correct cylinders as well
Both... Not to insult you but if you're unsure which motor is in your truck, changing the closest spark plug to the firewall might be worth the couple hundred bucks at the mechanic...
In my opinion the foam will hold moisture if it ever gets even a little bit wet. You can purchase new rockers and weld them in, and then bed liner the bottom six inches of the truck (saves on the paint match). That is about the only way it is going to be an alright price.
I bondo'd an...
I would guess that if anything, the plugs are new and the coils are old. I have had multiple bad misfire conditions across three different Expeditions in my family appear. We have both the 5.4 and 4.6, and every time a new coil and spark plug has made it go away. I would start with that and...
I would just go to Ford and get the full assembly. Set me back like 40 bucks. One of the few things I ever have bought from the stealership.
A call to any O'Reilly would answer the question of whether they carry it... We were able to buy a blinker switch for a 88 Lincoln from them so I...
Properly flowing exhaust allows the motor to breathe better. And while more air means more fuel, a higher power to fuel used ratio will mean better fuel economy in the long run. It's not how much you burn, but how well you extract the energy from what is burning. Hence the reason boosted and...
Its not really rare, I would say probably 1/3 of all the Expy's had air ride. It's a cool idea, just like automatic running boards and tailgates, but the main issue with those is that there are more things to go wrong and break, and when they do they are absolutely worthless/unusable until you...
Well this advice is a bit skewed because I use a floor jack on all of the trucks (including an 04 belonging to my folks) but I always jack it up on the a-arm, and then lower it down on a jack stand about 8 inches in front of where the frame curves to go over the rear suspension.
If i had to use...
Yeah I know the feeling, my folks bought my truck in 2001 because mom liked the color. Enter me and I find out it's got the HD towing package and 3.73 LSD as well. The external trans cooler that comes with the towing package has really extended the life or the trans.
I would replace the shocks. They are 15+ years old and have a lot of miles on them. Also, when they do go bad, it isn't a gradual process, which matches your description.
All depends on the coats you put on. I have had it for about two years now and have re-sprayed the rims twice, but both times I didn't do enough coats (i think I did 3 the last time around). It is pretty durable stuff though, I was surprised it didn't melt away with the heat of the rotors.
It...
I have had my truck do that too. The best answer I can think of is that the torque converter doesn't properly unlock and so it doesn't allow the vehicle to sit still like it is designed to. Mine hasn't done it in a couple of years and would only do it right after I came off the freeway or...
Another thing to consider is that the newer expy's make their torque much earlier around 2200rpms, so downshifting (for better or worse) doesn't happen as gingerly as the old ones. Also if you have a shorter axle ratio, that will affect acceleration feel as well.
I do agree that the tuner will...
I think if I had the money I would have still done oem coils. The accels were cheaper but the truck just doesn't have the go power it used to. That could be more related to a tired motor too though.
I would think you could get a real nice deep tone with a magnaflow or flow master and no rear cats. Going back stock is making backwards progress in my mind, and going backwards is never good haha.
The raspy sound comes from lack of back pressure. Add that back with any chambered muffler and it...
