AC/Heater - Will rear AC/H operate if front heater core bypassed?

Just remember, the front controls must be set to any on position to send power to the rear controls. So you will get cold air somewhere up front due to the dead front core. Maybe unplug the front blower, but air would still be force-fed through the system when the truck is moving.

Rough idle? P0171, P0174? Here's what you need to check first!!!

I believe those codes have to be cleared after the repairs are made. Either with a code reader plugged into the OBDII port or by disconnecting the battery for a period of time to clear the computers memory.

New Owner. 1997 expedition XLT with 277k

the washer fluid bottle doesn't hold fluid...rather it leaks into the pass floor and pools just under the door. How..IDK. I know it's not the heater core because I poured orange fluid in the washer bottle and green antifreeze into the coolant. Possible that a feed hose to the rear is busted? I...

Battery light is making me crazy

Others have posted of finding corrosion at the Alternator mounting points. Apparently the Alternator grounds through its mounting bolts.

System to Lean Bank 1 & 2 and Cylinder 3 Misfire.

1st Gen were known to leak from a heater hose "T" fitting and drip coolant onto one of the COP's at the back of the engine, taking it out. Just something else to check.

    Expy smoking from engine bay

1999 4.6 had issues with the head gasket sealing on the rear pasenger side of the engine, causing an oil leak. Doesn't affect performance, but the oil drips onto the exhaust and smokes, especially after shutdown. Mine was done twice, once under original warranty and once under extended...

    Blend Door Issue??

Console has to come out. Not too bad to do. The Heater-Treater picture/videos are on an F-150 with no console. What happens is the pivot on the bottom of the blend door cracks so it then just "free-wheels" on the actuator. So as the truck accelerates and decelerates, the blend door is just...

    Blend Door Issue??

This is what I did. Made a slit in the carpet from front to rear about 6 inches long. A couple inches back on that rear floor heat duct that runs under the console, I made a cut across the top, left to right and down the sides, leaving the bottom intact. I then folded the piece under itself to...

    Difference between 1999 and 2004 4.6?

I believe 99 was the last year for plug wires with the two coil packs on the 4.6 in the trucks. The 04 is probably COP (coil-on-plug), so there may be some wiring differences.

    4R70W hard rolling downshift

If you can anticipate a situation where you need to accelerate quickly from a roll or coast, try pushing the OD Lockout button to get the trans into 3rd before mashing the throttle, this will then give a much smoother 3 - 2 downshift and prolong the life of the transmission.

    4R70W hard rolling downshift

These transmissions are known for a harsh 4 - 2 downshift at times, it is the OD band's achillies heel, so to speak. Being aggressive "getting back on the gas" seems to be the conditions that it shows up.

    Need help with a decision

I'm partial to the 1st gen. You have invested alot of time, effort and money into your truck and it looks great. I vote KEEP IT.

They used to send them out on printed letterhead via regular mail and the info included the actual build date and assembly plant.

    Fuel gauge not working right

Did the multi-pin connector go on straight when reconnecting? or Maybe one wire from the harness backed itself out of the connector when going back together.

    2010 Expedition Limited For Sale

Christ, the fellow unfortunately has to sell his truck, and the vultures are circling to pick the meat from the bones. Todd, that is a nice looking vehicle, too bad you can't keep it. Good luck with the sale. Throw up a coupla-three pictures of the interior if you get a chance.

    disable the dome lights?

To kill the interior lights with the tailgate open when parked, I trip the latch "finger" by pushing it with an object like a key. This in turn trips the interior light switch, which is part of the latch. Just have to remember to "open" the latch with the handle before closing the door.

Finally got the "Service Engine Soon" light to go off

I too had this issue on my 99 4.6. Had new motorcraft plugs and wires installed in July. Three times the #2 boot popped off (up actually). Re-torqued the plug and no problems so far. (And if the 5.4 COP fellows are scratching their heads, 99 was the last year, I believe, for old-school plug...

    parking brake

On the 1st generations, the parking brake is an old-school mini drum brake inside the rear rotor's hub. The linings are known to separate from the shoes from old age and will be just sliding around inside the hub, even if the parking brake was never used. Unknown if newer generations continued...

'03 EB Front Blower Motor High Speed Only

The Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) uses a Blower Control Module (BCM) to control the fan speed as opposed to the resistor coils used on the manual systems. This provides the many fan speeds controlled by the thumbwheel on the control panel as opposed to the four speeds provided...

    Hello from Philadelphia

Welcome. I just changed that hose on my 99 XLT 4.6 today. It is part of the fuel evaporative system. Napa hooked me up with a section of reinforced "emission" hose cut to length. Transfered the plastic push-on fitting over, all good. Dealer would probably have the pre-formed version but...

    Front Blower Quit

It is in the heater /AC plenum much the same way the blower resistor assembly is. However it is much larger. The circuit board, along with a large heat sink is inside, with just the connector showing on the outside. On the panther cars it is accessible from under the hood.
