parking brake

I went to get my 2003 expedition inspected at j lube and it failed because of the e brake not working. E brake worked fine before i took it over. i guess the ediot put so much force on the pedal it broke something,cables look good . Is there an adjustment in the brake hardware itself or does anyone know what might of caused this.

I don't think you could break it just by pushing on the pedal. My guess is that the shoes are just not making contact. Here is a link to a thread about 1st gens. I realize that your truck is a 2nd gen, but it is at least a place to start.

Check the cable ends - at the foot pedal and at the junction where the single cable branches to two cables. Haven't looked at mine but my F250 is setup like this so I'm going to assume it is the same. This is one point of failure with the other being the cable itself.

On the 1st generations, the parking brake is an old-school mini drum brake inside the rear rotor's hub. The linings are known to separate from the shoes from old age and will be just sliding around inside the hub, even if the parking brake was never used. Unknown if newer generations continued this design.

i pulled 1 wheel lining are intact , i will try to check out cable mechanism,can you tigten the cable here.
