the floor shifter uses a cable to shift the trans. The newer F150 that is a column shift uses a cable to shift the trans also. I have not looked at a expedition that has a column shifter but I am sure it also uses a cable. so if you get all the parts needed to convert your expedition from a...
if they are the same year you would have to change the rear wiring harness and the fuse box in the rh kick panel and maybe the dash harness because of the switch in the dash to make it all work. if they are not the same year I wouldn't try it.
there is a certain build date that is in 2008 that ford put the better plugs in them I am sure a search on here will give that build date. it sounds like a good deal for the miles seeing where you are from look under it for rust and look at the hatch and hood for the paint bubbling around them.
make sure the spark plugs were changed as that can be expensive and the exhaust manifold leak, my 07 had that when I sold it at 70k miles. also make sure the heat and ac work on all settings and levels they had blend door issues also.
I have a 12 non EL and I love it, it has 25k on it right now and I have had no problems and the brakes are much better than my 07 that I had before. the only thing I wish is that I had gotten an EL but I don't haul more than 5 people and stuff that often. good luck I think you will be happy with it.
as for the air filter box go to the ford dealer and order part number AL3Z-9F721-A it the air inlet tube that goes in the outboard side of the airbox. it costs less than $10 and will let a lot more air in the box.
the 08 expedition is more like the 09-14 F150 but still they are very different. the front suspension and the front body inner structure are very much alike but that is where it stops.
the tensioners will suck down. but it is really hard to tell if you don't have a good one to compare it to. they should stick up a few inches past the sitting surface of the seat if good, but sometimes they deploy and don't suck down.
check the seat belt tensioners on the inboard side of the front seats they could have sucked down with the impact with no airbag deployment. its hard sometimes to tell if they deployed. its best to have the codes checked.
in my old 07 expy I had the same problem and new rear rotors helped. if they are warped it will push the piston back in on the calipers and then when you push on the pedal it will feel low. also after putting the pads and rotors on if you can have someone who can do the ABS bleed with a ford...
