coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Did a compression on cylinder #7 three times and it came back 120psi, 90psi, 90psi. I checked cylinder #6 for comparison. That one came back at 150psi, 150psi, 150psi. So it looks like cylinder #7 is hosed somehow. Now I'm not very happy.

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

I'm going to do a compression test this weekend and if it comes back good. I'm pulling the intake gasket back off and re-sealing it with black RTV. Possibly there is a leak somewhere on the gasket surface and the RTV will fill that in.

    Fuel Rail

I know of a few yards in VA near Richmond that have some Expy's in them. Maybe they would be willing to pull it and ship it if you're so inclined.

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

I dont know if that has the same effect on a vehicle without the COP set-up. But its worth a look. It almost feels like it has a vacuum leak. All the new plugs are white-ish like a lean condition.

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Number 8 cylinder mis-fire fixed. A piece of plastic from the fuel line connection was pressed in between the injector connector. Now it runs on all 8! Thanks for the help guys!

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Thanks Bedrck. Found it in the service manual. Replaced it at lunch. Read the codes and I have a p0308 Cyl#8 misfire. I also had a oxygen sensor fault code. But I dont remember which one. This points me in a direction. Now, to fix this problem. Here are the codes. P0308 - cylinder #8 misfire...

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Did a tune up and replaced wires and plugs last night. Ran like crap coming out of the carport. Drove it to work today so I could get some gas in it. Started it this morning and it purred like a kitten. Drove it to the gas station and it has a bit of a miss at idle when its warmed up. Then on my...

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Odd thing happened today. I went to move the truck and it ran great! We just had a rain storm pass over. I'm thinking its plugs and wires time. It warmed up and started running worse. also its low on gas. Something I failed to mention. Sorry guys. With it warmed up I added a couple more gallons...

So you're writing all of this to say you just broke the motor in? Good job!

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Nothing new to report. I have to get an extension for my compression tester. Then I can get the compression checked and hopefully move forward.

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Checked all the spark plugs last night and everything looked good. I took it for a drive to try and get a feel for the problem. It was a dog and did not perform well. Feels like two cylinders are not firing. So my plan is to do a compression test. Then buy new plugs and wires for a tune up...

Thats certainly another way to do it. Try it and let us know how it works! I may change my set-up over if its a better way.

Radiator tank cracked. clutch fan to blame?

Iminyourchair, Have you checked out my thread on the electric fan conversion? There is a link in my signature. Before you decide against a electric fan set-up please read it and make a educated decision. Mine works great! I tow and the truck stays cool with the AC on. So take a few minutes to...

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Before the intake gasket replacement I had just replaced both coil packs. Its not un-heard of to get bad parts. But I want to check some other items to tell me what might be happening.

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

So I went through all the injectors. Everything checked out. I started the engine and listened to each one. They are all operating. Now I'm concerned. I'm going to pull the spark plugs and check each one over. If I dont like what I see I'm doing a compression check. I'm concerned that somehow...

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

I checked the resistance on the injectors and the injectors came back with a value. Is there a way to check the harness?

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

You know, I thought about that, so I double checked all my connections. To make sure none of the injectors are plugged into the wrong plug. The way these come out of the wiring loom they are plugged in properly. So I had the engine running and un-plugged then re-plugged the injectors in. Nothing...

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

They are sealed and getting fuel to both rails. Through my torque app I can read mis-fires from the coils and I'm getting zeros from all cylinders. But when I un-plug the injector connectors on cylinders 5,6 and 8. Nothing changes in the way the engine runs. I'm going to start it and listen to...

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Bedrck46, Thanks for that! Its something that I have been swirling around in my head that could be a culprit. I'm doing more checking and digging tonight hopefully.

coolant in cyl#5 spark plug hole

Thank you for the diagrams. I'm going to get a copy of the Ford workshop manual. Does it seem plausible that three or four injectors could have clogged by spraying cleaner in the inlet. When I pulled everything apart I thought a quick shot of intake cleaner wouldn't be a bad idea. But thinking...
