    Radiator Qs

Hey check out the link in my sig under electric fan install. I replaced my radiator with a dual core unit. Much nicer towing now. Also I added an electric fan to boot. Wired everything and it works like factory.

    Cyl. number 1 misfire

Plugs and wires were replaced in January of this year. It could be the ignition coil. But last night when I was checking connections I heard a tapping noise coming from under the valve cover. I'm thinking a cam follower is worn or a lobe on the camshaft. I'm not tearing it apart right now. I...

    Cyl. number 1 misfire

I was playing around with my Torque app on my phone yesterday. When I found out it could track misfires in the engine. So I set it up to monitor all 8 cylinders. On my drive home I do a lot of expressway driving. Well within my 30 mile trip home cylinder #1 misfired 40 times! Cyl. #6 3 times and...

I think I just F'ed myself with PATS

I dont know of a way to bypass the PATS system. Unless you have a car thief for a friend. Maybe they can help. Other than that. Looks like its time for a ride to the dealership.

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Move to the west side of the state. They get more snow due to lake effect. Plus the beaches in Muskegon are beautiful for those summer time dips in lake Michigan! Man I miss home!

    Please help...no interior curtesy lights

Turn the lights that are not working on. I found this out because my kids would sit in the truck with the doors open and then turn their individual lights off. For whatever reason turning them back on is what worked for me. Also check the bulbs if you haven't already. I think its a malfunction...

    Rear end swap

For me its more about towing. But in the snow is a good point. I have other things to fix in the mean time. Before I tackle a job like this. But it never hurts to research well in advance of doing a job.

    Rear end swap

Was it pretty straight forward or is there anything someone changing one out should look out for? You're in Williamsport? My mother in law lives in Canton. When we travel up to see them we usually stay in Williamsport.

Anyone put a six spd in a 1st Gen expy?

On the first gen expy's it seems to be more plug and play. You have to know the trans you're getting. Here are two threads from people that have done it. http://www.expeditionforum.com/f73/6-speed-manual-tansmission-conversion-13262/ ZF6 swap 98 Expedition - Ford Expedition Forum

    4R70W hard rolling downshift

Well if its a normal thing I guess I'll put up with it. But it seems odd. Since the first time it happened I have been a lot easier on the trans. when accelerating after the 4 - 2 downshift. I just hoped there was something I could do to make it better. It feels like I'm tearing the trans apart...

    4R70W hard rolling downshift

1997 Expy 4.6L 4x4 230k Ever since I bought the truck. When I have to slow down from 40-60mph and roll through a corner or waiting for someone to make a turn then get back on the gas it downshifts hard into 2and gear. I have completely flushed the trans and replaced the filter. I dont think...

    Gotts mod triumph and failure

Sounds a lot like one of my adventures. Good information too. I never knew the inlets for the air cleaners were different sizes. Sounds like mine is the smaller one, just like yours. Wonder what years or options had the larger inlet. Also who is your rubber supplier? I may need a sample tube for...

Rusted coolant part connected to ECT sensor

No, mine just bolts directly into the coolant cross tube at the front of the intake. So maybe its a 5.4L only piece.

Rusted coolant part connected to ECT sensor

Is this a 5.4L of 4.6L? I just did some work in that area on my 4.6L and it doesn't have anything like that on it. The ECT sensor and switch both screw directly into the intake. One right behind the alternator and one just to the passengers side.

    98 Navigator 5.4l 4x4 Rattling Noise

Sounds like the muffler shop was up-selling. Yes it "can" get into the muffler. But for that price I could get a whole lot better exhaust than stock replacement. More than likely custom bent too! Good to hear you didn't go for their offer.

    1997 expy electric fan install

It is completely finished! I used a relay and connected the trigger connector to the red wire on the high pressure switch for the A/C. I then connected the ground for the relay and jumped that connector to the power feed for the relay. Then ran the light/horn/fan feed connector to the trigger...

    1997 expy electric fan install

Because the clutch does not stay on constantly. It cycles on and off meaning the fan would cycle the same way. The pressure switch is a better place to read from because its constantly powered when the system is active.

    1997 expy electric fan install

You could wire it that way. It would have to ground to the A/C system and then to a high temp grounding sensor mounted in the coolant flow. Both wires would go to connector one or two depending on what your high speed fan is wired to. I'm making one more upgrade to my system. You have to use a...
