I was playing around with my Torque app on my phone yesterday. When I found out it could track misfires in the engine. So I set it up to monitor all 8 cylinders. On my drive home I do a lot of expressway driving. Well within my 30 mile trip home cylinder #1 misfired 40 times! Cyl. #6 3 times and all the other cylinders once. Cylinder #1 misfired most at highway speeds. I have been hearing a slight pinging like I'm getting detonation. Which could be a clogged injector or low fuel supply. I changed my fuel filter about 6k miles ago. Tune up was done in January. If it was a fuel pump problem all the cylinders would starve for fuel the same right? So I'm thinking its a fuel injector clogging. What do you guys think?

check the #1 and #6 plugs for fouling check the same # wires and also check the resistance of the Ing Coil both the #! and #6 cyls fire at the same time Had that problem on my 99 expd when I changed the wires from the right side ing coil it solved the problem

Plugs and wires were replaced in January of this year. It could be the ignition coil. But last night when I was checking connections I heard a tapping noise coming from under the valve cover. I'm thinking a cam follower is worn or a lobe on the camshaft. I'm not tearing it apart right now. I have some other cars to fix.

Or a hydraulic lash adjuster...

Might be easier just to drop this bad boy in there and its 10% off. LOL.. Guarantee it would wake the expy up though. Not sure the tranny would agree with 8,000+ rpm shifts though plus a wee bit more torque...

I would love that! Mate it to a 6-speed manual trans. and give me 3:73 gears with posi in the rear. That would be fun!
