1997 expedition XLT with a 4.6. My father bought truck new, I am the second owner. For at least 8 years now, no curtesy lights worked. The glovebox light works, the sunvisor mirror light works, and the rear cargo light works, but that's it. All exterior lights work, except the running boards. I have recently checked over all fuses, again......still no curtesy lights. The headlight switch seems to work fine since it will turn on rear cargo light, so I don't think that's it. I've heard a lot of people talk about their curtesy lights not turning off on this model and the solution being, to simply spray wd-40 on the door open mechanism, but that won't help me right ? Seems like I have different kind of problem....please help....really like to finally fix this issue.....any ideas ?

Turn the lights that are not working on. I found this out because my kids would sit in the truck with the doors open and then turn their individual lights off. For whatever reason turning them back on is what worked for me. Also check the bulbs if you haven't already. I think its a malfunction in the GEM module. Mines been wet a few times and this didn't start until after I had the windshield replaced. They wet sanded/repainted the window opening to seal the glass. After that my interior lights started "malfunctioning". I have a few other problems with the GEM module. So I plan on replacing mine.
