#6 miss fire? or not. i'm out of ideas

When it's installed is a whole different story though. When the plug is installed and the cylinder is building hundreds of psi it's much harder to fire the plug. Bench testing a plug and coil won't tell you if it's too weak to fire when installed. However, if you swapped like you already said...

#6 miss fire? or not. i'm out of ideas

Did you change the lead from the coil to the plug? Also, how about the connection from the computer to the coil, that tells the coil when to fire? I'm not yet familiar with the expeditions, I've only recently gotten mine. But I know on a lot of GM's and other cars there is actually a fuse for...

    265 70 r17

My vote goes to General Tires, Grabber HT's. I live in FL, no snow. I've had Michelins, Toyo Proxes, Kumhos, and BFG's on my explorer and they all were great for about 8 months and then turned to crap. They technically had many miles left, but rode horribly as soon as the soft outer tread wore...

    Painting Mirrors To Match

Mine had the paint falling off the door moldings. The center metal part of each one is actually chrome, with black paint on top. The paint flakes off and leaves smooth shiny chrome behind. I can't believe it's not even scuffed or primed, no wonder the paint falls off. I looked at several...

    Cats?

I haven't messed with them on the Expedition yet. But I did on my explorer. There was a massive gain in mpg, and acceleration on the highway was much much better. I was getting 24 mpg on the highway with the cats emptied. I finally replaced them to quiet it down so I can sell it, and the mpg...

    5 speed expedition?

I wonder if there will be more problems with the F250 computer because it has to communicate with all the other computers. There's the ABS computer, body control module etc. I think they're all seperate, and could be communication issues. Then again, since they're both Ford, maybe the...

    Weak battery - instruments sweep?

I've seen this in the past on other cars. Besides the slow cranking, the gauges pegging out were caused by bad body grounds. Not sure on the expedition where and how many grounds there are for the instruments.

    5 speed expedition?

You may be able to use the shift position sensor to tell the computer that your in Drive, and have a start over ride some how by using the wiring schematics. I still think without the output sensor from the transmission, your gonna have a wierd acting computer, and possibly abs lights. The...

    throttle body spacer

I believe you can get both depending on the mod. Increasing efficiency will get you both mpg and power. For instance, underdrive pulleys. They remove some parasitic drag, which on the dyno adds about 5-7 hp usually. At the same time the engine doesn't have to work as hard, and mpg will increase...

    Painting Mirrors To Match

I can't wait, another fun project. The only thing is that on mine, it's Medium Wedgewood Blue, which is a darker color. The mirrors are already dark. So when I do before/after pics it won't be nearly as noticeable as a white vehicle, but I do think it's gonna look the way Ford should have built...

CAI, Catback, Efan, ThrottleB spacer, E3 plugs?

The electric fan is good for highway mpg since it's freeing up some horsepower, and the highway airflow is more than enough to cool the radiator. But in the city, the electric fan will run a lot, and with the a/c on you have to have the fan on no matter what- unless your above 50 mph. So overall...

    Painting Mirrors To Match

Does anyone have some pictures of the truck with the mirrors painted? Sounds like a good idea. I saw someone with the same color explorer as mine, and they not only painted the mirrors, but they painted the piece that goes between the hood and the windshield. That looked awesome. I really don't...

2005 EB 4X2 A/C Air Conditioning blows room temp

My thought is possibly the blend door. That's a common problem, the blend door controls the temperature. The motor's have very weak plastic gears and they snap off. Have you tried cycling max a/c, and doing it when the engine is ice cold before the heater core has a chance to heat up? If the a/c...

Driver side window will not rollup!

When I bought mine a few weeks ago none of the windows worked. I took the drivers switch apart, it popped right out and comes apart very easily. I moved each switch and saw the little metal contacts were burned on some switches. I cleaned them with some very fine sandpaper and rinsed it with...

    throttle body spacer

I installed one on my explorer when trying to get the most mpg out of it. I don't think the mileage or power changed at all. But the throttle response was quicker. I think it's probably because the throttle linkage was changed around a little bit, and less movement of the pedal resulted in...

Any OBD II Experts, I need help!!

Well I figured out the OBD II problem. There was a melted fuse in the under hood fuse box. It had a loose/dirty connection which caused arcing, which melted it. That fuse supplied power to evap sensor, cam sensor, o2 heat etc. I replaced it, cleaned it, and the CEL has never returned The engine...

    Occupations.

I'm an aircraft mechanic. Worked on Boeings, MDouglaus, Airbus etc for about 3 years. Then changed pace to a local airport and work mainly on prop planes for the last 12 years. I run the shop, order all the parts, and now scheduling all our jobs. The only time I fly is in a broken airplane and...

Any OBD II Experts, I need help!!

I had already posted there but got no responses yet. Since it's basically an OBD II question I posted here as well. Hopefully someone there has seen it before and will tell me about a common faulty connector or something.

Any OBD II Experts, I need help!!

This is a Ford Explorer question, not my expedition. My 98 explorer has been parked for about 3 weeks. I decided to drive it yesterday because someone wanted to look at it and probably buy it. Well the check engine light suddenly came on. I pulled the codes and WTF, I have 15 CODES. I cleared...

    SCT Tunes

I don't know if just a computer mod will get you 20hp but if they're using a chassis dyno while tuning, that will help. I've only gotten tune files that were made for other vehicles on a dyno. Then they sell it to people like me with similar stock setups. However, a privately made tune file...

    03-4.6 exhaust and intake

Yes +2 votes for the GOTTS MOD. It's by far the easiest/cheapest biggest bang for the buck mod I've ever done on all my racing and modding cars. It's also been dyno proven (supposedly) on the F150 forum. Also check out your restricted exhaust "Y" pipe. Ford did a horrible job designing the Y...

    SCT Tunes

Sometime very soon I'm having a couple tune files made up for mine. I have the Xcal2. It's an older 9400 series programmer. It's not as high tech as most of the newer programmers. It doesn't change tire size/speedometer. But it lets you play with ignition timing, idle speed, shift points, shift...

    ngk plugs?

That's always been my exact reason for using ONLY copper plugs in all my vehicles. I've tried platinums and absolutely hate the idle quality with platinum. They are ok when driving, but idle is rougher. The only time I recommend platinum or iridium is on an engine with a multiple spark CD type...
