It looks good! So it does give a little more V8 noise? I got my shipping confirmation today, unfortunately I'm going out of town tomorrow, so it'll have to wait till I get CONUS again before I can install it.
I don't know if it was a diode or voltage regulator, I just know it's fixed now. And because I threw some parts at it in the beginning, I have a new belt and pulley tensioner to go with it =D
Good find on that! I have heard of them......even from the East Coast! I was looking at the Magnaflow and I knew where I could get a deal on the Expy model, but not near as cheap as that Gibson. It was too good to pass up!
Well, I went ahead and replaced the alternator. I had a mechanic buddy take a look at it and he thought it was a bad diode in the alternator. Changed it out and it no longer chimes or lights up under heavy acceleration.
On a side note, my idler pulley (the 6 rib one) wobbled a little bit. It...
So, I went to Advance Auto and they tested the alternator.
Everything looked fine except that my Battery CCA was 1205.....it's supposed to be 750. Is that an issue? The tech said that I should swap alternators. What do you guys think?
Weird.....it won't let me insert a picture.............
I had Darrin from BCA Transmissions build me a custom valve body for my Expy transmission. I wasn't having any issues with my transmission, but the valve body I got from Darrin for my Crown Vic completely changed the performance of the car. It took almost 3 months for me to get time, but I...
Still having this problem after changing out the belt and tensioner. Is a high output alternator worth it? I don't run any heavy electronics, but was considering a power inverter installed in the cargo area...would the HO work better for that?
I removed the passenger side kick panel and the sill. There is a metal plate just under the sill with 2 screws that I removed and just underneath that is a LARGE bundle of wires about 1.5" in diameter. I had to pull the wires apart a little bit to get to the black/pink wire towards the bottom...
Most of the kits I've seen are 2" level kits. That being said, the lift and level kits are usually only 1" apart...as in 3" front/2" rear. I would look for a 1-1.5" kit. Having a little rake is preferable to having the ass end lower.
I bought a "dead" pedal from a Mercury Marauder forum (Mercurymarauder.net) that fit my Crown Vic......it fit the Expy as well....perfectly, no drill and bolts right on to existing spots on the kick panel.
Reviving this because my Expy was doing the same under heavy acceleration. I changed over to a Gatorback belt and that helped until I got a Xcal 3 and E fans. It does it again and I'm wondering if the tensioner needs replacement.......opinions?
