    Spintech Exhaust Upgrade

Some of you probably heard of this from my posts on the other expedition forum so I'm sorry for repeating myself. But for everyone on this forum I wanted to share my experience/idea. Basically I removed the restrictive factory "Y-pipe" and the rear two converters (mine had 4 cat converters...

    another rear air problem

I bought my 03 with rear a/c broken and front worked great. Thanks to help from ELVATO I got it working again. In my case, and most other people's, the two actuators that control temperature (blend door) and ceiling/floor vents both break. There are tiny little plastic gears inside the...

What part of "flow" don't you understand?

My first thought is, "I hope the PO didn't change any spark plugs...." that could suck real bad.

If you choose to do the seafoam treatment, I suggest using the PCV port and stepping down the hose size to a very small one. There's so much oil sucked into the intake through the PCV port that it should be cleaned off using the same port. Just use a small hose so it doesn't kill your engine. I...

    Idle help

what year and what engine do you have? The computer controls the idle, so if you physically adjust the idle stop on the throttle body then it will alter the TPS sensor voltage at the idle position. Sometimes that can cause problems. The Idle Air Control valve is what controls the amount of air...

had exhaust done, lean O2 reading

Any new news? Is the problem fixed yet? I just did my exhaust system a few days ago and haven't had any CEL yet. I removed both rear catalytic converters, ran two separate pipes back to a dual inlet muffler. I'm guessing you just have an O2 sensor that's ready to be replaced.

    03 Ford Expedition Brake sticking???

I've seen this problem before on other vehicles. It was caused each time by a cracked piston inside the caliper. The piston is usually able to be purchased in some sort of rebuild kit. When the piston is cracked it doesn't move freely and will also expand when you step on the brakes, causing it...

    Towing MPG?

At 7.5 mpg, what speed are you pulling? Do you set cruise, and are you able to use overdrive or is that too heavy for overdrive? What type of fuel are you using? I've found that using higher octane, especially when towing, I get better mileage. Not trying to start another octane relating mpg...

Changing tires from P rated to LT

If you're planning on towing often, and heavy, then it's worth considering. There are a few things to expect though. The ride will be stiffer and more like a truck than like a passenger car. Traction will be less on wet roads because the stiffer sidewalls don't flex as much. MPG may slightly...

    coil packs

Honestly I don't know the ohms, and I've never had any luck depending on the ohm reading of testing coils. The best thing you can do to determine if one is bad is to swap it with another cylinder that you know is good. For example if you keep getting a #1 cyl misfire check eng light, then swap...

When you replace the spark plugs definitely make sure to use a good anti-sieze lubricant on the spark plug threads. Make sure to properly torque the spark plugs tight enough. If the plugs become slightly loose then two things can happen- 1 carbon can get into the threads and sieze the plugs into...

    Problems installing new Exhaust system

Update I got a different shop to delete the rear cats for me today. Not only did they do like I asked and delete them, but they showed me how ALL the welds from the previous shop were extremely sloppy, and the previous shop didn't coat the welds with enamel to help prevent rusting. I'm very...

    Gas mileage

I've consistently gotten 20 mpg if I set cruise control at 65 mph- if I draft behind an 18 wheeler I get a solid 25 mpg, and if I change lanes away from him it drops back to 19-20 again. If I cruise at 70 mph the mpg drops to 18.5 average. Luckily my daily route to work consists of 8 miles...

    popping under acceleration

When you changed them did they come with those short ignition leads? Are you positive that each lead is actually centered over each spark plug? Did you clean your MAF sensor? If it gets dirty or gets some oil on it (like from a K&N Filter) then it'll make the engine run all screwy. I had a...

    Problems installing new Exhaust system

Yeah he was bein lazy. I went to another shop and the guy was eager to install it the way I want it. He's ran 3" pipe over the rear axle before and said it's just tricky, you gotta know your shit. He also said no problem deleting the rear cats, just warned about the loudness. - BUT he had...

    Problems installing new Exhaust system

I just had a few problems with my muffler shop. When I dropped it off he told me he would cut off the rear cats no problem, and run 2 pipes into my dual in/single 3" out muffler, and run a 3" tail pipe from the muffler to the back bumper. 2 hours later the guy calls with a major attitude...

    popping under acceleration

Did they replace all coils? Was the coil replacement specifically because of this popping, or was that unrelated? A lot of times popping through the intake can be caused by a timing chain that has "jumped" which throws your cam timing out of wack. Also a severe intake leak will cause popping...

Installed my NEW $99 Bull Bar

I took the original grill apart, seperated the chrome outer ring from the painted middle section, and unbolted the Ford emblem. I painted the center area flat black so it wouldn't show up. I put the screen on top of the old grill and bolted the Ford emblem over the screen to hold in place. Then...

    03 Expedition A/C Problem

55 sounds high for the low pressure side of the system. Mine runs 35 low side and 210 high side. You may be overcharged right now. Was it cycling on/off before filling the freon? Is the air temp in the a/c vents ambient or is it possibly blowing hot air from the truck heat system? If you have...

Installed my NEW $99 Bull Bar

The color on my truck was starting to bother me because no matter how much I polish it, it just always looked kind of boring. It needed some chrome to brighten it up. So that Bull Bar was perfect, it really made a difference in the front end. It looks heavy but only weighs about 25 lbs.

Installed my NEW $99 Bull Bar

I found the steal of the century on ebay last week. I got a brand new Stainless Steel bullbar for only $99 with free shipping. They're selling factory blemished bull bars dirt cheap rather than scrapping them. THis is probably a $400 bull bar because it's mirror polished stainless steel, not...

do i need to reset cel?

I think some check engine light codes will automatically clear themselves after a certain number of successful startups, but I don't know how long that takes to find out. If it's the O2 sensor than you may have to clear it manually, possibly unhooking the battery for a while could do it?
