There is already a thread on this site regarding that subject. Do a search. If you can't find it, go to Havis.com and follow the links to the Expedition and there are step by step installation instructions that will help you.
I'm guessing you have the "big" Expedition (EL), because Weathertec does make a mat for the cargo area with the third row folded. I have one in my truck and it fits perfectly from the back of the second seat all the way to the tailgate. But I have the "small" Expedition.
Call them on the...
I don't know how different the 2011 is from the 2008, so I hope this helps.
I changed out the head unit in my 2008. I had to run a fused wire to a switched lead in the fuse box.
I also installed the PAC unit to save the steering wheel controls. Took a little trial and error, but the...
A few years ago, my friends and I brought our motorcycles down to Florida in the winter for some riding. We were riding through the Everglades n the origina Alligator Allrey and were amazed to see gators sunning themselves in the ditches alongside the road.
We only stopped for pictures at...
If your truck only has a flat 4 connector, you do not have the "traielr tow package".
Just adding an adapter to the flat 4 will NOT give you control of electric trailer brakes.
You need to use a "round 7" connector tied into a brake controller.
I don't know if all the trucks are...
The easy answer, but not what I would do, is directly from the fuse box located on the right side kick panel.
I would run the switch from the fuse box to power a relay that draws off the battery - through a fuse - to the lights. This way you won't fry any OEM circuits or burn up your truck...
As long as the transmission cooler does not impact any other system, and the correct amount of ATF is added when installed, there should be no reason for warranty issues.
Be safe and talk to you local Ford store and see what they say, and have them put it in writing.
You should be able to tow a trailer that size, but I would definitely add a brake controller.
You will just have to add the wires between the controller and the plug at the bumper.
When I started looking for an Expedition, I made sure it had the tow package since I knew that would be...
I got one in my 2008. I got mine from Crutchfiled.com when I ordered the stereo.
I went to the manufacturer's link for the installation directions. Very simple. Only two wires for my truck. and another two wires on the actual head unit.
The programming took about 30 seconds...
DON'T mount it in the center console!
If you trailer starts to get away from you, you won't be able to open the console and hit the manual button fast enough to control the trailer.
Mount it in the cubby hole if you have one, or by your right knee on the lower dash where you can get to it...
I have a 2008, and I had to have both my front window regulators replaced shortly after buying the truck last year (used truck).
The lift motor is part of the regulator and can not be seperated from the regulator. My truck uses a cable controlled lift system as opposed to the older stlye...
May be water in the transmission/transfer case, or differentials.
Hopefully you didn't ingest any water itnto the motor.
I would reccomend (sp) getting all the fluids changed.
Last summer after Irene hit Vermont, and we had deep water, I had to drive my F250 through deep water.
I...
I think you are taking somrhting relatively simple and making it really complicated.
You would also have to run coolant lines, and upgrade the compressor to make up for the additional volume of coolant. And you would have to runfn the insulated coolant and return lines to the compressor...
Although it looks great on paper, it's not going to be an easy swap.
Underneath the front part of the console, there are numerous wires and heating ducts that would have to be moved. And if you have the shift lever in the console, that would need a new mount.
My suggestion would be just...
I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the TPMS in the Expedition is not mounted on the valve stem. It's a "band unit" that wraps around the rim.
If this is the case, the tire dealer should just have replaced the valve stems without and issues.
But as I already stated I...
Stay away from the Jensen units.
That's what I had originally installed in my 2008. The unit wound up crapping the bed after 4 months. I called Crutchfield and they let me upgrade to a Kenwood unit.
Everything, from the GPS to the Bluetooth, are so much easier and more inutuitive...
That is correct.
If I remember correctly, the yellow wire only senses when the ignition is turned on. And the main power wire (wire directly to the fuse panel) actually powers the unit and keeps the clock and memory functions working.
You must have a 2 wheel drive Expedition. It's a secondary coin holder.
In 4 wheel drive trucks, the 4 wheel drive selector knob goes in that location.
When I changed out the head unit in my 2008, I had to run a power wire directly to the fuse box to pwer the radio. All the resat of the wires in the harness worked "as advertised". Just make sure you hook up the blue wire so you turn on the antenna amp.
