One can buy my Fusion Hybrid which is for sale. :)
Also - driving a hybrid has forced me to change how I drive... that will definitely help. I get 2 - 3 more MPG in my wife's Suburban than she does...
As for my MPG in my Expy (12 / 18), I just got lucky. :)
IIRC Toms, you did the install out of the truck though, right and then put it all in??? I have heard horror stories of installs in the truck. That being said, looks easier from under the truck - would that be true???
Reference this picture from my truck:
Thoughts?
Good point. Will look at it today (if it warms up any) and see how dirty it is. I think I am going to have set aside a weekend when it warms up and do the Seafoam, oil, TB, etc.
I will be keeping it the same color... and I got lucky... just hope the luck holds out. :)
Still have to look at doing the plugs... decided not worth the risk (at this time) to do myself... (this may all change depending upon prices quoted to do the work)... :)
I have the same "whistle" - it is somewhat random... but will almost go away with increase load at idle (either A/C or defrost coming on), or slightly increasing rpms...
No joy on finding origin or solution yet, either. :(

Here are some pictures I took while it was up on a lift:

Driver's Side Tie Rod

Mostly taken to see leak at the oil sending unit

Quick Question To All - Rear Sagging?
OK - resist the urge... please... :)
Here is a side shot of my 99 Expy:
This is actually a dealer pic, and it is on a "down slope", but the more I look at it, it looks like my truck is "sagging in the rear"... esp. when I look at it on level ground...
Finally replaced the PCV Valve and cleaned the MAF. I hoped the new PCV Valve would fix the whistle I hear from the right rear of the engine, no joy. It is not that big of deal, so I will keep looking.
I did learn that my kid is better suited for working on this thing than I am - the Ford...
I have a 99 5.4, how do I tell if the "shudder" I feel under load (ie. in OD going up an incline - say around 1900 rpms) is torque converter chatter or a misfire?
MPG is still ok (12 / 18), feels "ok" under full throttle acceleration (though not as smooth as my 2008 Z71 Suburban), and CEL is...
Excellent - thank you.
One note I neglected to clarify in my original post - when I said "...picks up considerably more speed...", I meant to convey those speeds were COASTING DOWN from the crest of a hill, not getting to the top of it...
That being said, I think your response still applies...
I have seen a lot of posts on the "Brown Wire Mod", and I don't really want to start messing with "stock"...
However, question is this: how much "drag" is caused by the transfer case / front diff when the A4WD is not "engaged" (i.e. computer not sensing the rear wheels spinning)? I ask for...
