2003 Ford Expedition Fuel Pump Relay (R303) Damaged

Here is the finished (spare OEM) fuse box ready to be installed once I get my quick connectors tomorrow. I realized that the second set of 'repair instructions' give the step by step to BYPASS the built-in fuel pump relay circuit by tapping into the appropriate and specific color coded loom...

2003 Ford Expedition Fuel Pump Relay (R303) Damaged

Okay, this took longer than I thought because I changed my plan and redid the PCB connections. I didn't feel that butt soldering the wires directly to the board would hold up. So I researched then ordered and changed things. This was what I ended up doing. I'll be doing a full tech write-up...

2003 Ford Expedition Fuel Pump Relay (R303) Damaged

Here is a Copy/Paste of the other instructions I located: “ So I know there is a bunch of people that like to replace the CJB (Fuse Panel). But remember that all you are doing is resetting back to the same potential problem being able to happen again. The circuit board was not designed...

2003 Ford Expedition Fuel Pump Relay (R303) Damaged

I ran into THESE instructions in another Post by @DavidJodoin so I’m left wondering which is correct?

2003 Ford Expedition Fuel Pump Relay (R303) Damaged

I’ve been putting off attempting the external relay modification for years. I’ve been using a jumper to power the fuel pump for years. My Expedition has been sitting unused for just over 2 years. I’m returning to the office and need to get Bonnie road worthy once again. There are several things...

    What oil/filter do you use?

Decided to revive this old string as its been 2.5 years since the last update. NEVER heard the results of the T6 test from USMCBuckWild on Page 11. Is it still true ExplorerTom that the Walmart oil "scored VERY well"? I'm wondering if any opinions have changed as the prices of everything has...

Stainless Steel brake lines, which brand?

Do you have the contact info for Goodrich? I need to get the specs for the hoses (length, end types, id's and od's of the ends, etc as I think I found a vendor that will manufacturer them for me (us) so we can all upgrade our brakes. Unless... One of y'all have those specs already.

Stainless Steel brake lines, which brand?

Yeah... This is an old post but had a question and a comment. Question: If your brake lines are collapsed, is it possible the vehicle drive fine for a few miles and THEN start to feel like you're dragging an anchor? Comment: Had a guy custom make SS brake lines for my son's Durango back in...

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

UPDATE: I've only driven her locally as I didn't have confidence in taking her on long drives because she was shutting off randomly. I did notice one dark morning when I went to start her up and she kept shutting off that the fog lights kept on flickering in sequence with a relay clicking. I...

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

UPDATE: I decided to throw caution to the wind and take her to the car wash because (sitting since June 2022) there was quite the layer of dust. So, she drove fine at residential speeds however, once I got on the freeway and went to accelerate to freeway speeds, she started pinging like a can...

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

That's the thing. I've never replaced it because honestly, I'm scared to. I've read many stories about how after transmission maintenance has been neglected, that in many cases, the fresh fluid and it's detergents will make every fault and worn part completely noticeable. So I'm worried about...

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

Found my battery was bad. Bought a new battery and she started up but wouldn't stay running. Checked and heard the fuel pump functioning as expected. Then ran my fingers along all vacuum lines and found one chewed, possibly by a squirrel. Replaced and and she runs. Took her for a slow local...

I agree, I'll change the fuel filter. I hadn't thought of that.

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

My 2003 5.4 EB Expedition has sat idle since June of 2022 and I'm wondering... What items should be checked and/or what if any fluids should be changed at this point before I get her back on the road again? She has been garaged so the elements aren't a variable. Thank you in advance for your...

    Another fuse box replacement ....

I don't have the info or pictures right now but I had my fuel pump relay fail AFTER I got off work in downtown Dallas a while back where I didn't want to be after dark and there was no way in hell I was paying for a tow 42 miles away out of pocket. I do InfoTech for a living so I decided to...

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

I tried dude. I really did but after four separate instances of badgering without offering any helpful feedback I bit back. I've been on here for a while, you may have as well but I've never ever been badgered or ridiculed for asking opinions of forum peers. There is/was this one member who...

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

You are a sad little dude huh? Figures..... you're from Washington state. Stick to being on your knees as you're probably proficient at that and have callouses to prove it because you sure don't have any from working on or modding your truck.

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

I've also thought of that possibility as BMW is famous for having a cover wtih a gasket that seals all the plugs/COPs water tight as well as having a seal around each COP using the seal shown in my attachement. I have also thought of this. Tried creating an 'umbrella' of sorts using silicone...

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

There aren't any tears on that gasket although I thought of that. I could add some soft weatherstripping to the underside of the hood. Cylinders 1, 2, 5, & 6 are the ones that get it the worst.

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

Seriously... I thought this was the whole purpose of a forum? To come forth with a problem and a theoretical solution then ask for opinions. At least that's what it used to be. Heads are machined, ported, polished, modded, and even custom designed for race. So why is it so outlandish to think...

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

The fluid is water being tossed up into the engine bay by the big lugs on mud terrain tires. I don't baby my Expy... She gets dirty, muddy, and water innevitably drains down into the spark plug wells. My question is valid and that would be a mod. Creating drain holes for each of the wells.

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

I'm constantly getting pools of fluid in the spark plug port wells so I started wondering. Is it possible to drill weep holes that will allow any fluid to drain out of the wells? I'm tired of chronically shorting COPs and/or fouled plugs.
