I have a 10 min. drive on a hilly winding gravel/dirt road to and from my house, and before this expedition I had 3 Navigators that had power running boards. The road gets muddy/snowy/icy. At least once a week I lower the running boards and hose out all the dirt/sludge/ect. from the hinges and...
This Platinum is my first Expedition, so I don't have any experience with other models. The way the manual describes lane centering, I didn't really see how it differentiates it from how late keeping operates — it doesn't explicitly state that lane centering essentially takes over steering for...
That's BlueCruise, not lane keeping. Only the Platinum has hands-free mode for BlueCruise, so you have to keep a small resistance pressure on the wheel periodically to keep it from dropping out of BlueCruise.
The 22-yr-old who mowed down and killed four 18-20 yr-old college girls this week along PCH in Malibu was texting while he was driving. I doubt the parents of those girls would find your comments very amusing.
I'm not sure why one would want easy access to their phone while driving, for both safety and moving violation reasons. Especially when there's a nice padded compartment for the phone that has wireless charging, USB ports, and you can access maps/phone/etc from CarPlay or Android on a nice big...
That's a nice setup in the F150; more utilitarian than the 'luxury cabin' styling of the Expedition. I always keep my phone in the phone tray on the wireless charging pad and use CarPlay on the dash screen.
I needed to find a leather cleaner/conditioner for some leather seating in the house; the leather is very soft and had a matte finish, so I didn't want anything that would leave a shine/sheen or oily/greasy residue. Tried a few different ones, and this was by far the best, and I also use it on...
I had a bunch of chewed wires on my Navigator a few years ago — all sorts of warning lights randomly went on and off. I thought the truck was having some kind of seizure. $1,500 repair to replace wires and wiring harnesses; trouble disappeared.
I put a pair of these in the engine compartment of...
The driver can't be 'doing something else' during BlueCruise hands free: the system will very quickly give you an audible and dash-message warning, then will start slowing down and brake-checking you, and then disengage; so you can't get habituated to doing other things and/or not paying...
For BlueCruise, especially in hands free mode, the 2 cameras trained on your eyes watch you very carefully to make sure you're paying attention to what's ahead of you — the dash is deliberately not busy or flashy, which would distract your attention from the road.
USB ports, or any other electrical system for that matter, don't spontaneously start producing smoke and a burning smell — something was damaged, but apparently not enough to render it inoperable. I would definitely have it checked out.
