This is definitely not "ready to run". The broke "sensor" he refers to is for boost bypass. As far as I can find, it is about $300 from Ford to replace. I'm guessing it is possible to find a used one as I found 90% of all my supercharger stuff used.
Can't speak for others that added the...
Not sure why this post is listed under the General Discussion heading. There is a sticky under the Engine and Performance section.
Anyways, here is my latest update:

Okay...been running the supercharger for almost a year now and have had ZERO issues. Expy currently has 101,000 miles on it...13,000 of that is with the supercharger.
Just wanted to pass along the update.:head3:
My apologies Guys for not responding to this sooner. For some reason I didn't get any of the email notifcations for this.
With that out of the way, Jacks3am is exactly right. When we mash the GO-pedal, it is every bit as loud as the Magnaflow or Flowmaster that we had on there previously...
Prior to adding the Lightning supercharger to our Expy (really my wife's Expy), we upgraded the exhaust in preparation. I was running a Magnaflow dual-in/dual-out (DI/DO) muffler on my F150 and it was great...so we added the same muffler to the Expy. While the performance from the Magnaflow...
We mounted our Boost and Tranny Temp gauages in the center of the dash over the radio. We used a dual gauge mount from a Nissan Frontier.
Let me know if you are interested and I post a pic.
This may not be the article that you were referring to but this is an upgrade we just completed on our Gen II Expy. It uses the monsterous F250 trans cooler.
This write-up has a butt-load of pics and all the part numbers he used...
We have duals coming down the passenger side and over the hump and both dumping out the passenger side.. Looks like it came that way.
Definitely glad we didn't try going the route of that dude.
Ok folks...gotta a couple issues I need some guidance on. About 12 months ago, the backup sensors started acting up intermittently. When we would hit reverse, a msg would pop up in the msg center saying "Check backup aid". Since it only did that sometimes, we let it go. As the 12 months have...
As I had stated before, I probably spent between $2500 and $3000. The great thing about this swap is that you can buy the parts over time instead of dropping all that money at once. We spent about 4-5 months buying everything for both our swaps (my wife's Expy and my F150).
Granted, that...
With regard to MPGs, we lost probably 2 MPG on the highway (15.5 MPG down to 13.5-14 MPG) and about the same in town (11.5 MPG down to 9.5-10 MPG).
Really depends how bad people piss you off on the road...that really determines the MPG. :flamingdevil:
These Lightning swaps aren't as bad, money wise, as everyone thinks. If you buy the parts a little along, you can get everything in just a couple of months.
Nothing like a 6,000 lb Expy that hauls ASS! :drool2:
I didn't swap the entire motor, just added the supercharger to my 2004 motor. Not familiar with laws in cali, but what I did should be no different than adding an aftermarket charger.
The Gen 1 Expys do not require the throttle cable bracket mod...the Gen IIs do. As for the cost, I did mine for around $2500 - $3000. Seems expensive I know but when you compare that to an aftermarket system ($4500+) with the upgradability (pulley swaps, tunes, etc) that the Lightning swaps...
Awesome job Tom!!! My wife and I can't wait to build out bottom end and see what numbers we can pull.
Just something about a blown Expy that is just awesome!
Congrats to you!!
Tom...that install looks GREAT!!! Once you get that thing tuned and broke in, you will LOVE IT!!
For what its worth, I would really watch for oil in the intake. Even with an oil separator, I was still sucking oil through the PCV system. Most of the oil though was coming from the driver's...
I did use the DI/DO muffler simply because I didn't want to add a separate X-pipe. Although my muffler guy said a DI/SO muffler with 3" out would do the same thing, I'm just not sure I believe him. Having the DO should eliminate the traffic jam of exhaust.
I'm definitely no exhaust expert...
Trans Cooler update...
After we mounted the heat exchanger behind the bumper, we noticed the tranny temps getting a little high (usually hanging between 200 and 210 degrees). I'm guessing air was not moving across the factory aux tranny cooler like it should. Doing a little research, we found...
Several updates...
Well...its been a few months and the Expy is running better than ever. Between the increased power and the feel and smoothness of the Monster Transmission, we couldn't be happier.
With that said, we did make a few changes recently. After the first month, I started to...
I put a Monster Transmission 4R75W in my wife's Expy last summer. They garrantee that you won't break their tranny. They also offer free shipping.

I absolutely LOVE the new tranny.
Oil Separator update...
After noticing oil getting into the intake from where the PCV/oil separator hooks up and especially from the intake tube (from driver's side valve cover), we decided to do a PCV delete and just add breather filters to both valve covers.
We've been running this setup...
