If I where you I would get rid of the 4 factory cats and just run a total of 2 after market cats ( 1 cat per side in between the o2 sensors ).
It will still pass smog checks and Texas will leave you alone on your inspection since you do have cats under the truck.
This would be the cheapest...
GET RID OF THAT Y PIPE!!!!! Delete the rear cats and just run two pipes into a Dual In / Dual out or Dual In / Single Out Flowmaster!
Trust me you will like the results and its not hard to do.
Here is my setup on my 2002 EB with the 5.4L I am running the 70 series Dual In / Single out on...
This is what 35W 8k's look like at night when driving, they do have a slight "blue" tint to them but it is not a lot.
The 6k's have even less they are almost a " pure " white.
If you go with the 55w they will be more on the " white " side because of the higher temp, but they really are not...
That code usually means that your front cat is going bad.
It is comon on these trucks and basically the second cat was hiding the problem.
You have a couple of ways you can go about fixing the issue :
1. Replace the front cats with new ones and leave the rear off.
2. Put the rear...
I have done the rear cat delete on my '02 EB and have never had the CEL come on for a " lean condition ". I would have to agree with JOEZEK in that I belive it would be a problem with your o2 sensor and not the placement or the cat removal.
The main codes that the rear o2 sensor would set...
NO YOU DO NOT LOOSE ALL OF THE 4WD FUNCTIONS! 4H AND 4L STILL WORK NORMALLY!
The only thing that you loose is the A4wd. Where you have to be carefull is which wire you cut, becuase there is a Brown and a light brown wire. YOU NEED TO CUT THE LIGHT BROWN WIRE for this mod to work. If you...
If you are worried about it I would change the filter and only replace the amount of fluid from the pan, since the pan only holds a little less than 1/2 of the system capacity.
This way you will have about a 60/40 mix of the old vs new ( 60% old with 40% new ). By doing it this way you are...
Yeah the starters are in the same place. I seem to remember hearing something about the firewall being a little different, but I am not sure.
Tommorow I am going over to my buddies place and he has a 2000 f150 5.4L, I will try to compare the under side and see if they are the same. His is a...
:nono:
Just drain change filter and fill, and don't forget if you have the 4r100 ( not sure about the 4r70w ) to pull the " rubber plug " from the bottom of the bell housing and turn the motor over until you see the torque converter drain plug and drain it as well ( MAKE SURE TO USE LOCKTITE...
That's what I was thinking is there is not much difference between the 2. Not only that since mine is only a 2wd I don't have any additional cross members to deal with. There is a lot of room under there and as stated before I think the only " clearance " issue would be around the starter, But...
All I can say is if you get them and they do fit PLEASE do a write up and let us all know!
I would love to put long tubes on mine when I get the money, and BTW that is a really good price.
I may just have to break down one of these days and pick up a cheap set of Flowtech headers for the...
As long as they did not run any " cleaners " in it you should be fine. Problems arise with the high milage / original fluid trannys when the run a cleaner thru them or do the " power flush ".
If it was just a drain / filter change and refill you should not have any issues.
You would also need some kinda computer to controll it. Your factory Expy computer would freak out!
I don't belive they have any stand alone computers for that tranny yet being that it is so new, but give it a year or two and I am sure there will be one.
Tranny fulid can last that long and it is actually easy to tell if it is original.
When the factory installs the tranny in the truck, there is a plastic plug in the dip stick hole. When they install the dipstick, they just let that plug fall into the pan sice it cannot get sucked into the...
You can also check out this thread :

It is a long one but covers all of the years of Expy that people on here own.
Hope this will help awnser some questions about reliability.
I havn't tried any higher than 15% because under load or WOT the shifts are VERY FIRM ( firm enough to thow me back in the seat and at WOT squal the serpentine belt ) but I also only have a 2wd on factory size tires as well so you may be able to use a little more.
I would start out at 15% and...
READ POST #46 AGAIN I EXPLAINED IT ALL IN THAT POST. I TOLD YOU IN THAT POST THAT YOU DO NOT NEED TO GET THE LEAK DOWN TESTER KIT, AND THAT ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS USE THE COMPRESSION TESTER HOSE BUT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU PULL THE SHRADER VALVE OUT OF THE BOTTOM FIRST! THEN HOOK IT TO AN AIR...
I put on the BOSCH ICON blades back in October and they are great.
Here in southern NM you go thru blades about every 6 months due to the heat and lack of humidity, but these blades still work like NEW!
No smearing, squaling, or jumping around on the glass at all, and a beautiful clean...
The only way to have the system permantly disabled would be to have some one " create a custom tune " for the computer. When they get in they can " Turn Off " the PATS Security system.
Or you can get this and do it yourself...
Yeah I have bumped up the shift firmness by 15% on all shift points and it makes a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.
No more car like shift, it actually feels like a truck quick firm shift.
I had mine on level 3 for quite awhile and I liked it but it was hard to keep my foot out of it so right now I...
A faulty trans mount will not give the symptoms he is describing. He states that he has removed the shift cable fromt he trans and tried moving the " shift shaft " of the transmission and it still will not go past the drive position.
This means it is an internal transmission issue and not a...
Yeah that sounds like an issue with the PATS security system. When the system does not see the " chip " in the key, it will shut off the fuel injectors so the vehicle will turn over but not start, unless you are " feeding " it fuel thru the throttle body.
