    ford spark plugs

except for the brain damage plug design, what else is wrong with the 3V head design?

Quick question about valves open or closed

very generally speaking, each cylinder in a V8 is 45.625 degrees behind the one ahead... so the valves from one cylinder to the next aren't going to be in the same place.

    2nd gen throttle body

Found it! apparently, the OEM throttle body for the 04 5.4L 2V is 69 mm. Stage 3, among others, sell an 80 mm throttle body. has anyone installed a larger throttle body on their expy?

    CB Mount

I'm going to be mounting one, but since i bought an SSV expy, i got the fire department console, so I've got lots of room. Still interested in what people are doing.

    Aux fuel tank

If i move the spare on my 04 Expy 4x4, i can put a 42 gallon tank in that spot. there are several suppliers, including custom fabricators, on the internet. the toughest part would be the plumbing, since I don't want two fill points, and I don't want to have to switch back and forth. from my...

    FINALLY!!! K&N dyno sheet

Wel Well, yeah, that was kinda my point. I get that if power is the object, then every little bit can help, but really, I’m not drag racing this thing. It’s a DD that I want to be able to drive offroad as necessary. I’m not going to be spending a lot of time at 4000 rpm plus. Now, if it was...

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

what value does sneering at other's choices add to this group? are you 12? or making up for small organs? it's amazing how rude people can be behind a keyboard.

    FINALLY!!! K&N dyno sheet

yes and no. I never actually suspected it, but I was growing increasingly doubtful because I could not get any actual numbers from anybody. I've seen several posts that were obvious wishful thinking at best and outright bullshit at worst - "i got 20 horsepower and 3 more mpg with my CAI!" ...

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

are you seriously condemning an engine design on one example? sorry yours was a lemon, but c'mon man, get over it already. to be fair, if I had one spitting spark plugs in traffic and Ford wanting to charge me a few grand for new heads, I'd probably be chasing them down in the streets with...

    what trans?

thanks. mine is an 04. i spoke to a ford parts guy and the autozone web help desk. the question was never anything but "what does 44E mean"?

Five Star Tuned 2019 EcoBoost Expedition

this is the kind of response I always find very frustrating. the question was not "which to choose". the question was "@LokiWolf do you know the difference between “write calibration” and “write entire” when using the RTD/HP-Tuner to flash a 5Star tune to the ECM (“write entire” is the only...

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

well, I don't know about your expensive toy, but mine was built as a Police Package for a fire department, in which it did very well for almost 16 years, thank you very much. I bought it from them and it's doing just fine. the design itself is widely known for its reliability and durability. of...

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

that's probably the single most useful piece of information about these engines I have ever read. Basically, they're expensive toys. thank you very much.

    what trans?

AHA!!! got it. the 44E = the 4R70 trans. NOT the 4R100. so there. ford part number for the 44E is 4L1Z7000DARM, AutoZone SKU is 710922. on a side note, nothing burns my ass more than the damn bullshit artists on these web sites. stop talking out of your ass, people. if you don't know, please...

    Aux Fuel Tank

FWIW, I've calculated the space where the spare goes in my 2nd gen expy can easily hold a 42 gallon tank, with associated plumbing, etc. since my spare is 32.8 inches tall, I assumed a tank 33" square and 9" deep...

    FINALLY!!! K&N dyno sheet

I have been asking this question literally since the dawn of time. Really. I was there at the big bang and the first thing that popped in my head was "Are CAI claims real, or bullshit?" after all that time, K&N came across. http://kandn.com/dynocharts/57-2538_dyno.pdf so the answer is yes...
