    explorer owners have done the same brown wire mod for years with no ill effects at all. just as i've never heard if a issue related to the transfer case or brown wire mod causing any type of issue.

    inside and my front sensor is the issue for me, to replace this you have to remove the shift motor. i run in 4x4 6 months out of the year all the time, i like the A4wd setting for fall/spring when there is spotty ice/snow and in parking lots. i'll worry about fixing mine some time this winter...

    yes it means the A4WD is not working. i just had this issue start on my '98. it looks to be one of the two HALL sensors in the transfer case.

    yeah the factory battery gauge on the dash is not a real gauge. by the time that shows anything its too late and you dont have far to go. def the alternator.

    when you loose voltage they do very funny things. the alternator went on my expedition last winter on a day it was a high of -10. it had 83k miles on it at the time and no expectation to have to replace it. got a call from the other half that the truck died...asked a few questions and knew...

    sounds like a bad alternator and possibly bad battery.

    thank you! i had sunday free and i went to the new LeMay building, saw some family..ect i'm doing training in Kent at the ingersoll rand air tool companys headquarters here all week thats 8 hours a day so i wont get much else to do. i did go to federal way for dinner tonight..cant beat olive...
