    Window Woes

    Both my front regulators were replaced and the Auto Up/Down on the driver's side works perfectly. The work was done at a local shop, not the dealer.

    Window Woes

    If it has Auto Up/Down make sure to do the calibration procedure. And, still get that lubricant we discussed above and use it regularly to extend the life of the new parts. :)

    2010-->2008 seat swap

    That's really the best option in order to maintain the safety systems on your truck. It's actually more work, believe it or not, because you have to take both sets of seats apart. There are airbags to deal with, buried inside the foam, and an OCS system in the passenger seat. Caution is required...

    2010-->2008 seat swap

    I'm guessing that your 2010 EL Limited came equipped with 10-way power, heated and cooled seats with memory function as standard equipment. Any 2009-2017 Expedition, Expedition EL, Navigator, or Navigator L with 10-way power, heated and cooled seats with memory function should swap into your...

    2010-->2008 seat swap

    Yes, that works as well. Memory seats have "encoders" on each motor that input to the Driver's Seat Module (DSM). The seat switch also inputs to the DSM and the motors are then directly controlled by the DSM. You can "run a bypass" by connecting the seat switch directly to the motors while...

    Good point, edited my post to fix. Thanks! :)

    2010-->2008 seat swap

    2010 heated/cooled seats are totally different than earlier models. Actually, I believe this started in 2009. Also, you can't retrofit memory seats into a truck that doesn't already have them (it may be theoretically possible, but I've yet to see anyone actually do it). As for the seats...

    Window Woes

    Ford specifically says to use dry silicone spray lubricant on the window channels. In my experience, the powdered graphite is for things like door lock cylinders (i.e. where you insert the key). It stains pretty badly.

    Window Woes

    Spray the window run channels with a silicone dry spray lubricant. This will help them go up and down more easily. Unfortunately, the regulator assembly isn't practical to lubricate while it's in the vehicle. Thus, over time,the cable and other parts of the mechanism can corrode and friction can...

    Roof Rail Weatherstrip -- How is it attached???

    I figured it out. Starting at the base of the windshield, carefully pry it up (similar to the way you pull the door weatherstripping). There are no retainers in the front portion. I didn't need to remove it past the front door, so I don't know if there are pin-type retainers toward the back.

    Roof Rail Weatherstrip -- How is it attached???

    I have the factory service manual for my 2009 EL XLT and nowhere, ANYWHERE in this entire manual is the roof rail weatherstrip shown or mentioned AT ALL. This is the weatherstrip that goes across the very tops of the doors starting at the bottom corner of the windshield and going up the A-pillar...

    2017 Expedition XLT

    Neither the 2016 nor 2017 Owner's Manuals mention the "5/6" button trick in the "Keyless Entry" section. For trucks with manual liftgate, pressing the appropriate button on the remote 2 times pops open the liftgate window. For trucks with power liftgate, this same button opens the liftgate:

    Power Running Boards and mudflaps

    "Fit Note: Less Power Deployable Running Board" means it doesn't fit trucks with power running boards. Watching this thread in case I'm lucky enough to get a '17 this year. I'll be needing mud flaps as well. Thanks!

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    Please do! Let's see the page(s) that show the heated steering wheel option, or, if there isn't a section for that, the wiring for the steering column. The brochure for the 2017 Expedition does not list a heated steering wheel option. Also, mainstream reviewers like Autoweek have complained...

    2017 Expedition XLT

    On Ford cars equipped with keyless entry, the 5/6 button was designed to pop the trunk . It's been doing that at least since the early '90s and maybe as far back as the 1980s. When our SUVs came around, they decided to connect this function to the liftgate glass instead of having it release the...

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    Are you talking about a '17 Expedition Platinum? There was no heated steering wheel option on either the Expedition or the Navigator until the 2018 models. Hence the need for this thread. . .

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    Excellent! If you can, please post diagrams for the steering wheel controls. I checked out some similar buttons for another Ford vehicle. They snap together, making the internal circuit board accessible. Worst case, it *might* be possible to swap out the resistors on the board. Or, if the...

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    This Ford Fusion steering wheel is available heated and is almost a button-for-button match to the steering wheel controls of the 2015-17 Expedition. Of course, it's smaller than the wheel in our trucks, but I think the new 2018 Expy also has a smaller wheel like the Explorer:

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    I ordered a factory wiring manual for the Focus to get a complete picture of the wiring needed for the SASM. I don't have the regular service manual, so I don't know if the SASM requires Programmable Module Installation (PMI). I'm not 100% sure, but modules that require PMI may not function when...

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    I found what could be the key to getting this mod done for 2007-14 trucks. 2015-17 would require using an F150 setup. The F150 heated steering wheel (HSW) is controlled by a module that interfaces with several other modules, making it a complicated design. For example, there is no physical...

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    OK, this is interesting! According to Motor Trend, the 2015 F250 Platinum has a wood/leather heated steering wheel. This wheel happens to be the same design used in the 2007-14 Expedition. SO, if it can be confirmed that this wheel is indeed heated (we'd need to confirm by looking at a Ford F250...

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    You guys are too funny. :) I found the thread on the F150 HSW retrofit. There was one fellow who successfully did it and he wrote up a detailed guide but has since taken it down, not sure why. The hardware portion of the install seems fairly straightforward. The tricky part lies in the software...

    15-17 Heated Steering Wheel?

    Heated steering wheel is available on 2015+ F150 which is different from 2015 Expedition (it's more advanced with more and different options that we can't get like 360 camera and adaptive cruise control). I've seen only one thread that I know of where someone added it to an F150. You'd have to...

    Water Coming from Behind the Door Panel and onto the Sill

    My 2009 has been doing this for years. Water in the exact same spot. I have Weathertech mats and the water pools on there until it eventually evaporates, but in a downpour it gets so bad it soaks the carpet below. I could find no evidence of leaks coming from around the door. We get stink bugs...
