I have the factory service manual for my 2009 EL XLT and nowhere, ANYWHERE in this entire manual is the roof rail weatherstrip shown or mentioned AT ALL. This is the weatherstrip that goes across the very tops of the doors starting at the bottom corner of the windshield and going up the A-pillar and then back past the rear door.

On other Ford cars I've owned it was a press fit with tiny plastic retainer pins here and there. It was not glued in place. On my truck, I can easily remove the door weatherstrip, but the roof rail weatherstrip seems to be solidly glued in place. How does it come off? I need to check for water leaks in this area and I don't want to ruin or damage the weatherstripping in the process.

Thanks! :)

I don't know either. But if I were you, I'd go to one of those Pick-a-part junk yards and try ripping it off some junker before I took a screwdriver and tried prying on mine.

I figured it out. Starting at the base of the windshield, carefully pry it up (similar to the way you pull the door weatherstripping). There are no retainers in the front portion. I didn't need to remove it past the front door, so I don't know if there are pin-type retainers toward the back.
