    Plasti Dipping

So not a fan of Plasti-dip. The vinyl wrap will look so much more professional. I just don't understand. If you're going to go to all the time and trouble to Plasti-dip it, why not just paint it? Some adhesion promoter, some automotive spray paint and a bit of prep time will give you great...

No actuators on the front axle ?

Ford has used a couple of different systems over the years. The early models had a center axle disconnect system. Then they used IWE (integrated wheel ends) that were essentially just vacuum operated locking hubs. The AWD trucks don't have any of these systems. We need to know more about your...

    liquid refrigerant

If it were refrigerant, it would instantly turn to a gas when it hit the atmosphere. Is the a/c working?

    Transmission Rebuild

Look in to Monster Transmission. They beef up all the weak links in the trans, you won't get in a standard rebuild.

    hitch stuck!!!

I'd be worried that if it really is that rusted together, you may not want to use the receiver once the ball mount is removed any way. Even if you don't damage it in the removal process, the receiver is going to be somewhat deteriorated. You may just want to replace the whole hitch and save...

    Transmission Maintenance

It's more important to make sure that the existing fluid isn't dark and burnt before you think about changing it. You can ruin a trans by adding fresh fluid to a trans that has burnt fluid in it. The old fluid coats the inside of the trans and keeps everything from working.

    Sirius

Yep, you have to spend some time talking to customer care and threaten to quit in order to get any deals. I have 4 or 5 radios and an internet subscription on my account, and every 9 to 12 months, I need to call and try to get a discount. It's easier when you have multiple subscriptions...

Can you revive a failed LSD?

If it is truly worn out, changing / adding fluid isn't going to make any difference. Those units can be rebuilt if they have failed.

    how much oil front dif

If you're hunting down an issue, then you're going to want to pop off that cover to inspect it anyway. Pick up 2 quarts of diff fluid and fill it until drips out the fill plug.

    Painting Brake Calipers

I did something similar. I used a flap wheel grinder to smooth down all the casting marks and then cleaned it with prep spray before painting. It lasted for years on my brother's sportrac. There is also a great rust removing solvent that you could soak the calipers in to remove any rust or...

    Lights on the roof rack

I would use a marine style waterproof bulkhead fitting. Something like this. ANCOR MARINE Through-Deck Wire Seal at West Marine And then run the wires through the headliner trim and down through the firewall to the engine compartment to a relay. Don't try to shortcut things by running the...

    Anyone ever...

You probably have 2 or 3 hours to pull out the seats and trim and maybe another hour to get all old carpet out. Even if you use custom molded carpet, you'll still need a hair dryer or heat gun to get the carpet to lay nice and flat. If you're going to do this, it's also a good time to put...

    Ordered my new bumper

You won't be disappointed. The guys at TAG are great to work with and quality on mine was first rate. I didn't end up liking the gloss black finish though (just too shiny) and ended up spraying it inside and out with bedliner paint to match the flares. I think the only thing that I would...

    rear diff staying locked

Are you sure that the truck even has a Limited Slip Diff? It sounds like someone did a 'Lincoln Locker' job on it. While you had it up in the air with the diff cover off, did you spin each wheel individually to see if they were binding up anywhere?

It could also be an issue with the center axle disconnect system. It's pretty easy to diagnose and fix.

    Missing vacuum line?

I think that it's just a vent. That vacuum valve needs to have a vent on the back side to be able to open and close. I'm assuming that everything works fine?
