If you're hunting down an issue, then you're going to want to pop off that cover to inspect it anyway. Pick up 2 quarts of diff fluid and fill it until drips out the fill plug.

Well i changed the fluid and didnt have time to take cover off. I figured the oil waa cheap enough i could change it again if needed. Well it got worse aftwr the new fluid and i found fine metal particales in the oil. Next question is the differentials seem cheap used. What gears are best ?i have 3.73 in rear. And the f150 97-02 should be the same as the expedition?
