    Reliability and user satisfaction

Welcome to the forum. I purchased my 2018 used this past August after looking at all the competition and having driven my brothers 2017 EL. From a style, romminess, functionality, and performance standpoint it is #1 IMO. As some have already stated, we always hear LOTS MORE about problems...

Where do you put your keys?

On a keychain and in my front right pants pocket - where they have been since my first car. The only downside to these FOBS is that if you keep other items in that same pocket, you occasionally set off the panic alarm. I think they should make those a 2 button press, in sequence, to activate...

    2018 or 2019 Expedition

I'd say whichever gets you the configuration you want and at the best price. Not too much difference that I have found (did not know about CD). I found my 2018 shopping on-line and flew from MT to Denver to pick-up. I purchased through Echo Park; which is among the new format car sales...

    Inside rear view mirror destroyed

Yea, truth is his decision could have been much more costly. Still, that he chose the rear view mirror is odd. Time for a cargo pet barrier and a nice chew bone. I just purchased and installed one of these and it is of good construction and fits the space very well (currently on sale). I...

    Running boards stopped working

Update. Butte, MT Ford did the TSB procedure and could not resolve the problem - recommending replacement. Problem was that they could schedule me in before we left for our winter roost. Had to have the same diagnostic done here in AZ and they "think they fixed it". I cycled it several times...

    Passenger side mirror freaking out

While in at Alexander Ford here in Yuma for the erratic power side step, they did this update on the wonky side mirrors. They seemed to know about this problem straight away - so it appears to be a common issue. Hopefully this resolves it, permanently.

    Seat padding near headrest

I don't think that is being nitpicky. At the price point of these vehicles, we customers should expect better. It's little things like this that start earning makes & models bad press.

    Memory Seats

Did not know about this "feature" and will check it out, thanks!

    Memory Seats

LOL... you're not the only one confused. It returns to position #1 regardless of which FOB is used. I tried the sequence suggested figuring that perhaps with only that key in range, and resetting position #2 (her seat position was originally set with my key), it would stop the return to #1 when...

    Memory Seats

I tried with just turning the power on and with the car started - no difference. Maybe my FOB is still withing range?

    Memory Seats

So I left my FOB in the house (about 30 feet away) and used her FOB as suggested. Upon start, it automatically moved to position #2. I held the #2 button down and after the two beeps immediately pressed the lock button on the FOB but, upon turning power off, it still returns to the #1 position...

    Memory Seats

My wife was using the car today and asked if it's normal that the driver seat returns to the #1 position each time she turns off the car - requiring her to push #2 each time she restarted? It seems odd they would use such logic, but then one dosen't have to look far to raise eyebrows about some...

    Pooch in the Rig

    Worked as advertised, thanks!

    Passenger side mirror freaking out

We just experienced this on our trip to AZ and shortly after having added my wife's seating position as "driver 2". It had not done this for the preceding couple of months when I was the only driver and using memory 1. I think Ford has started calling these "features" instead of problems...

    Pooch in the Rig

I will try that, thank you. My wife was reading the manual while we were driving and must have missed that description... that's my excuse anyway :).

    Pooch in the Rig

So we're on our first long trip traveling with our yellow lab and he loves it. A minor issue we're having is that if we leave him in the car and lock the doors, he sets off the alarm (motion sensor). Yea, I know, someone's just bound to flip out about leaving a dog in a car - but we've cared...

Power running boards - keep them in OUT position?

I have mine set to off (in) and they have stayed that way. Not sure why the "out" position wouldn't work the same, but then we're talking Ford logic.

    Annoying Horn

$100! What a racket. Anyone want to bet the 20 something year old who ginned up this "save you from yourself" feature isn't also the guy who is marketing these? :) Now, if it eliminated the horn, deactivated the auto-stop, and enabled bambi mode, for $100, I'd buy it.

    Annoying Horn

LOL. I'm doing the same until I get the courage to invest in a ForSCAN system.

    XLT with 202a vs limited

The XLT 202A package was my primary search when looking but I didn't exclude Limited. As it turned out, I got a Limited for the price of the XLT but it took some shopping time and involved travel to CO to purchase. The Limited does have a few more spoil me options, but generally not worth the...

    2018 Expedition Max whining noise

Umm, yea, "normal" NO! I'm telling ya, the more I read on this forum, the more pensive I'm getting about my recent purchase. I did invest in a Premium Care ESP but some of what I'm reading about, over and over again, speaks to piss poor engineering. Worse, that Ford is attempting to stiff-arm...

Hands free lift gate closing by itself

Yes I know that. I was trying to say it would be nice if the same were true for the power rear hatch (and a handful of other features) without having to use ForScan.

Hands free lift gate closing by itself

Too bad this feature, much like the power running boards, cannot be turned off using the instrument panel settings. While testing out a trailer hitch mount bike rack we bought, I inadvertently tripped it several times. Also, with the bike on the rack, the rear sensor beeps at me when in...

    Corrosion issues on 2018?

What did the TSB say and what is Ford doing about it (for the affected customer)? In the aerospace industry, our aluminum parts go through alodine finishing as a final step prior to paint. This process is used widely throughout the industry and works exceptionally well. It passivates the...

    Grinding noise during startup

I found an article that said changes to the timing chain design and material were made in 2017 and introduced to the Expedition and Navigator in 2018. At least Ford is working to address the known shortcomings. Whether they have solved them remains to be seen.
