It’s not just Ford. All makes suffering shortages. The auto manufacturers are in part to blame.
They all stopped buying chips due to China virus so chip makers retooled to supply computer, appliance and other industries.
When auto makers came back there was an avalanche of demand for new cars...
So I need to tow a boat from Lake Erie to central Florida. My rig is 2000 EB 4x4 in excellent condition.
Boat, motor, trailer +/- 5000lbs on tandem axle w surge brakes.
I’m thinking of doing another tranny and coolant flush before.
Tires good. Brakes good. Spare tire not so good. A/C...
You wrote that it’s bogging down. How do you know it’s a tranny issue? If your power curve is diving down that sounds like you have multiple problems. If it was just a passing gear absence you would still accelerate w higher rpms.
New truck payment will run you $600-$700 month.
If used then $500 month plus repairs due to mileage.
You’re gonna pay. Question is are you willing to be in debt especially when prices are inflated?
I get this, I do, but what is the alternative? Buying another used truck for say $20k? That would have about 100k miles or more on it and it for damn sure won't be as reliable as these 1st gens not to mention inexpensive to repair.
What is a great running 1st gen with minimal rust on the...
I’ve got 230,xxx and running quiet as a kitten. I change oil 3000-5000 depending on color and change all fluids every 50k.
Do preventative maintenance and it’ll run well past 300k miles.
Strutmaster only manufactured springs. They use other shocks. Reason I didn’t go w them was they wouldn’t guarantee which shocks they would send me. Wierd.
I change oil every 2-3 mos due to mileage. Today alone I drove 180 miles and it’s only Monday. I’ll probably drive 500 - 600 mi this week and I’m at 5100 miles on last oil change but my oil still looks clean color of iced tea. I hate doing it because of frequency but I’d never go beyond 6000...
Yup. I don’t have much but at 227,xxx I just tossed the keys to my son now that he’s graduating high school. He can’t kill it.
I’m now driving a Kona AWD. Feels like a Porsche compared to the ole gal.
I converted to Monroe, twice. First set lasted 80k miles till the shocks started to leak. Just installed new kit 6 mos ago. I looked at alternatives but didn't find anyone selling the entire kit.
