Compared to my big lifted old 95 gmc no matter what I do my expy will ride like a Bentley. Im not allowed to work on it where I live (apt rules) and I dont want to pay a mechanic extra just to experiment beating on a strut with unknown results. If bilstein included perches I think we'd all be...
Well that sucks. Looks like I have motorcraft struts and they are either original or replacements since mechanic says joints looked replaced. Chances are the perches are pressed meaning bilsteins are out unless I hunt junkyards for old shocks. Oh well. Moog parts and monroe and a short lift and...
None of them look broken and they dont make any clunking or grinding noises but I figure when people say "the life of the vehicle" they may not be thinking of that high score. Im going to take it in sat and have them lift it up and check for any give or slop on the joints. Maybe they can tell...
Not to say they are bad much as I like to be prepared. It seems insane to me that it is so easy to find a new upper strut mount but not a lower spring seat when they both have to be removed and reinstalled each time you install a new shock. Also a part that often has to be hit with a hammer to...
assuming that mine are bad or get ruined where do I find replacement front and rear lower coil spring seats? I have checked a dozen different usual websites and I can only find the insulators and the top strut mounts I cannot find the lower pieces for the coils. any help would be much appreciated.
A clean underside will help your mechanic in the event he finds a leak he will know it happened recently and where it is instead of clinging old fluid. When I take in my old truck they keep begging me to power wash the old grime away lol.
Here is my thinking my 07 Expedition has 300,000 miles on it and I'm thinking I might need to replace the coils and the coil seat and insulator and now / corner it's over $200 and the bilstein's are going to cost more in labor charges than an assembled unit what do you think? Currently my wheel...
I would definitely put on some red and white reflective stickers on which ever item I choose. I really like that predator emblem and think it would be wicked about 50-75% bigger. Like a demonic stop sign lol
Thats what I mean. If it is meant to reduce damage they only say hitch ball. I mean if there is no ball is it still illegal? It seems like a pointless law but hey Illinois is good at that, and this is coming from California.

Um yeah not so much. If that were the case all aftermarket bumpers front and rear would also be illegal for not being "energy absorbing devices". And most trucks and large suvs have bumpers that are not energy absorbing either. Also no bike racks, spare tire racks, baskets or wheelchair...
My purpose is to prevent lots of damage in a low to medium speed rear end from a distracted driver in traffic. You know 15mph to 0 some idiot texting. Im in stop and go for way too long.
If that were true it would mean all bike racks, cooler baskets, spare mounts, and rascal carriers would be illegal too. It just doesnt seem like an issue as long as your plate and lights arent blocked.
With hitches tucked into the rear bumper there really isnt anything protecting the body from a fender bender turning into an expensive fix. What do you guys use to improve your odds? Trailer balls? Hitch spare mounts? Other? I need some ideas for my traffic commutes. Thanks.
