No way in **** I’m getting underneath and doing that job lol!
But that’s a great idea about buying a new transmission crossmember.
Now that I think of it my gas tank crossmember or shield thing needs replacing too. It’s so rusted it looks like spaghetti.
I just posted about my rattle. I thought it was ac compressor.
Nope. Noooo. I couldn’t be simple.
It’s the catalytic converters. The insides are rattling so I orders new set of Walkers.
Sooooo...turns out that rattling wasn’t coming from under the hood and the ac compressor.
The rattle is from both sides inside the cats.
Ordered a set of Walkers Direct Fit for both sides all 4 and pipe.
This ole gal owes me a few favors.
Well I found some early rust on the bottom seam of my passenger front door. ****** me off. Alreayhave some popping out on rockers.
That makes my decision easy.
Next high ticket item that goes I’ll fix and sell.
Wouldn’t mind finding another Eddie Bauer 4x4 that’s rust free as replacement.
Buying anything right now is just wasting money. You know you’re overpaying. Why would anyone do that?
If your truck is a screw then keep it till next year see what the market does.
Be patient.
The popping sound only happens sometimes. I’m sure it’s announcing early warning of worn ball joint.
My fuel comment was unrelated side note.
I only use non ethanol gas. I did learn ethanol fuel does burn cleaner meaning less exhaust but not that I care. My truck loves the added pop of non ethanol.
I wouldn’t sell my 1st gen for $5k. It’s worth more to me as a tool.
They’re inexpensive to fix, parts are easy, and they’re paid for.
When I’m done w her she’ll get retired and hang in my warehouse and live as a weekend tow rig.
I’m 6’0 and my head comes nowhere near roof and I have a third row. You sure it’s an Expy?
That 2016 is a ecoboost engine. Do your reading. Why would you pay $20k more and in cash for a used truck w 100k miles?
You have a young family put that cash into something that pays you vs you paying it...
I’ve flushed my tranny many times. If your tranny is weak then you can damage it but mine benefits from getting all the old fluid out. Besides, every dealer I work with has no concern flushing trannies which is why they have the specific equipment.
I do have trust issues. I have a good indy but they’re good for certain things. I use the dealer when I need deep pockets to go after if they screw up.
I don’t trust the indy to flush my tranny. I’ve had it flushed several times at the dealerships and never a problem.
Now with all the damn...
What is your guess the price is to have following job done.
Front diff oil
Rear diff oil
Transfer case oil
Tranny flush (not drain n fill)
Coolant flush.
Agreed on the lack of engine options on Expy’s. I typically plan way ahead and for a while now I’ve been considering what my next daily runner needs to be. I know it won’t be an ecoboost and really want to avoid VVT v8’s. I know I’ll blow through those in 100k miles then need cam phaser job etc...
