I had Best Buy install one on my 2007 a few months ago. I’m liking it and glad I did it.

Sorry one more question: Do u recall the capacities? A manual didn’t come with my used Expy. Just want to make sure I buy the right amount and right stuff.

Nicely done!
Did you just fill them up to the fill plug? Or is there a preset amount they are supposed to take?

Haha...nice. Yeah i was speaking about normal operation of the brakes...not specifically when you change them and have to pump the brakes back up.
I had an old Ford Fiesta (1979 model) that’s brakes went to the floor one day when driving it. That’ll put the fear of God in anyone. Expys...
Small claims court will cost him far more in time and energy than that brake job.
If he wants his Expy fixed...another shop is what he needs to do. Otherwise sell it, but he indicated he doesn’t feel right selling it with a brake problem

That’s because you (or whomever did your brakes) has to compress the pistons in the brake calipers. When you do that...the pedal will always go to the floor the first few times.
This is not the issue the OP is describing.

Sounds to me like you either still have a faulty master brake cyl, brake booster, or you have a leak somewhere. Whenever pedal goes to the floor, something def ain’t right.
I don’t see any reason they should’ve changed rotors or pads if that was your symptoms. I’d absolutely take it to...
Adding to that: if I thought putting the $2500 in it would be the last fix I have to do...I’d be tempted. I’m concerned it’ll just keep needing other costly repairs.

It’s a 2007. I bought it early Dec and have already put about $2k in it (tires, brakes all around, starter, a/c compressor, coil packs and plugs). I used to detail in my college days so the Expy looks amazing.
Selling it now would mean taking a bigger loss than just the purchase price...
I did a 5hr trip today with the Expy. Hoping i'll see (hear) some improvement after trying the Bar's. If not...I still don't know what to do. Dropping $2500 in it seems awfully steep right now. I'm wondering how many more miles I can get out of it or if I should bite the bullet & do the fix...
Yeah, I went with a heavier weight oil too...10w30. (I’d been using 5w30).
I also noticed motorcraft filters have an ‘s’ series which I guess stands for silicone? It was pricier but figured I’d try it hoping it was even a little bit better quality.

One thing I noticed this morning is that the thicker oil (b/c of the Bars) actually made it rattle longer on start up...which makes sense when it’s cold.
Hope this stuff works somewhat!

The Bars says it’s for 4-6 qts of fresh oil. I think I put in around 5.5 plus the Bars.

See the 5 second video of me starting it in my first post. It’s the consensus we’re hearing the timing chain slap.

Last night I put oil, bars engine stop leak, and a new motorcraft filter. I drove it around for about an hour.
Still had some chain slap at start up several hours later. The thing purrs once it’s running.
I’d love to not have to drop $2.5k in it. How long would it take for bars to work...
Wow that’s interesting...Esp since you had all that replaced. Thank you for responding!

Funny... The guy at the shop today told me the opposite. I thought he was wrong. He’s not the owner, so I’m going to take his advice with a grain of salt.
When I asked him why Ford put them in there if they only increase fuel econ when you lock them out, he didn’t have an answer.
2007 Ford...
I checked with ford for a engine swap. They wanted $9k for what I assume was a new one. Looked at junkyard engines that were in $2k range, and of course that’s not counting pulling old and installing it.
From what it sounds like...the 5.4’s are stout engines other than the freaking tensioners...
