I tried 20-50 once and my motor hated it. It was slower and worse MPG. I have always run have 5w30 fully synthetic moble1 in it for the past 10+ years with no prob so thats what ill stick with. A buddy of mine was running
10w40 in his sho and we tried 5w30 and picked up 2/10 in the quarter...

I have had problems like this with mine too. One of the problems I found was the vacuum lines that run from the pass firewall sylinoids and along the air condition lines to a plug by the radiator were melted. I believe these are the lines the go to the 4wd actuator. I fixed those and wala! all...
I would think it would not be a fuel problem because if you shut it off and then restart it soon enough for the engine to be still warm then there should be enough fule pressure to start it but not enough to keep it running if that makes sense.
I put royal purple in my expedition and SHO at the sametime and my expy loved it but my SHO stated to leak and smoke on start up so I switch back to Moble1 in both and the issues with my car went away.

Anyone know if the 97ish f150 driverside piller is the same as the expedition piller? I have a double gauge pod now and would like to swap to a triple which requires replacing the whole piller but I cant seem to find one for the expedition.
This is what ii do! I had to do it today and when i did this with water it slowly draind out so I took my air compressor with tool I made just for this and blew it. now it will be good till next year.
Thanks for all the nice replys! I had a roll pan on it but didnt like it because of the tow hitch, wiper and the handle stuck out and with the roll pan it looked kinda weird so i sold it.
