    Tire size expedition

expy2475, 35's would work on your truck, but like I said, it will require an 8" rim. That extra inch in the rim width creates a lot of hardship unless you are willing to do some mods. I wish the answer was better, bu that is the short of the story. You do the wheel well mod, then you should...

    Tire size expedition

Expy2475, without any mods, you have about the biggest tire you can go with. You might be able to step up to say a 295/70R17, but you may or may not get any rub. That seems to be hit and miss. As for where you will rub, the first place will be the front valance. Odds are, you have already...

    New Ex with few issues

Black, when you changed out the COP, did you also put in a new rubber boot (the part that goes from the COP to the plug)? If not, that is probably where your problem lies. These are known for dry rotting and they will allow the spark to jump through the boot. If you can touch the boot and...

doors not unlocking via keypad or switch - relay?

mraz, if it is not unlocking any of the doors, then you have a problem other than the relays as there are 2 different relays that do the doors (1 for the driver's door, 1 to do the other doors). I would start with the switch in the driver's door and then go from there.

    transfercase question.

Robert, you have to get a 97/98 transfer case. The 99+ transfer cases are wired up differently.

    IAC Valve question- Thermo?

Jay, like was mentioned, if you know the hole to go in, it isn't that bad. If you look by the starter solenoid (kinda under the overhang of the firewall), you should see an opening that you can slide your arm in. From there, it is just being slow and deliberate.

Dual H Yoke on rear driveshaft..

Mindgame, the 97-98 X's came with a driveshaft like you installed with only a single H-yoke (on the transfer case end). Ford ended up going away from it as the centering bearing between the two U-joints has a tendency to wear out and lead to other noises. On the Ford driveshaft, the centering...

    4 in suspension lifts

The only 4" suspension lifts I am aware of is the Rancho and Trailmaster kits. The Rancho kit is no longer made and I think the Trailmaster one is also no longer made. If you do some looking, you might find that you can still get one. But, you are really going to have to look. I am running...

Ways to make the Expedition for user and camping friendly

dankspeed, adding a 3rd row is going to be expensive. In short, you have to get the floor assembly from a truck that has a third row seat setup and have it welded into your truck. At a minimum you have to get someone to cut the wells out and then position them accordingly in your truck. You...

Drivers side Heated seat doesn't work

Sirius, from what you are describing, I am betting you will find that after you strip the skin off of the seat, you are going to find a white lining under there and where your body would touch the white fabric, you will find black/brown spots in the white fabric. These are points where the...

    badass suspension lift

If you run tires to match the lift, you are going to have a hell of a time with the front end hub assemblies. They do not seem to like over 37" tires. Not saying that it will make the truck unsafe to drive, but you can plan on replacing the hubs a lot more often.

How to trigger running board lights and interior lights on '98 Expedition?

AGrayson, it is a smaller world than you are thinking. If you continue straight for the light for Hickory Hills, make a right at the next road. I live back in Greenview Villas. If you drive back there, you will see my truck sitting there on the right. It is tucked back there a little bit...

    Raptor / Expedition ?

The easiest way to make what you are talking about is to simply get a wrecked Raptor and then transfer an Expedition body on to the frame. But, like was said, you will at a minimum need some fender flares to make it all work and look right.

    305/40R22 rubbing?

Rex, odds are, you are getting a little bit of rubbing on the front valance. This is a 5 minute fix for your truck. You will need to trim off a little bit (about 1/2" in) and taper it till you are not cutting anything off about 4" above the bottom of the valance. Do that and I bet your...

How to trigger running board lights and interior lights on '98 Expedition?

aGrayson, what part of SoMD are you in? California here. As for your problem, you will need to tap into 2 places if you want your running board lights to come on. If you are only after the interior lights, then you simply need 1 wire. If you are only after the interior lights, then you will...

    Expediton upgrades

Chris, as for the brush guard, if you change out the valance, the holes are still in the frame, you will just have to bolt the brush guard on at that point. easy. As for the tires you ask about, can't help you there. I went from the Goodyears to some Kelleys, then over to TRXUS MT's. As for...

    Can I fit 37's ?

reef, when i was trudging through 3 feet of water (comes up to about my bumper), I kept the truck in 2wd. Most of my time out "4x4ing" now is keeping the truck in 2wd just to make it fun and challenging.

    Tire question

Thunder, to be garanteed no rubbing, a 285/75R16 (285/70R17) is as big as you can go. Granted, you will need to trim the front valance just a little bit, but this is a 5 minute job and most of us have done this to our trucks. Some members have gone up to 295's, but that seems to be kinda hit...

Banker with tools vs Cylinder Head

rvanbeers, when I did the head work on my truck, I had to do the timing. I think you are making it more difficult than what it really will turn out to be. If you look at the picture that tom posted, if you look on the far camshaft gear, you can see the raise bubble at the 8 o'clock position on...

    Can I fit 37's ?

Reef, I sent you an e-mail. Like I said in the post, to run 37's like you are talking, you are going to need some very specific components to make it all work. You deviate even a little bit and you are asking for some major rubbing issues or damage to the tranny (too tall of a tire with not...

    35w HID vs 55w HID

Banger, take a look on the HID boxes. What you want to be looking for is what is called the "DOT Approval" stamp. If you have anything installed in your vehicle that affects the lighting, it should have a stamp on it somewhere. No stamp, not legal. Most states have a generic in their laws...

    35w HID vs 55w HID

Not to get into a legal argument here, but keep in mind that only the 35W HIDs are legal. Even then, in some states, you have to have the appropriate headlight housings for HIDs. Just putting that out there to keep in mind that there is more to installing the HIDs than simply wiring them up.

Have a sound system in your expedition?

I have two 10" subs in mine. I removed the tool box in the back driver's side and mounted one box there and then mounted another box in the factory location. So, I took up no room inside the truck for my dual subs.

    no start problems

Sleeper, I know this is going to sound silly, but check the status of your battery. If the battery voltage drops too low as you are cranking the truck, the ECU will attempt to reset itself which will also cause the ECU to go "dead" for a little bit, blocking any signals for the fuel pump and COPs.

    Complete Power Failure

Brain, keep in mind that if the battery is really drained, it is going to attempt to pull lots of power to recharge itself. If you are using a cheaper set of jumper cables (say a set with 8 gauge wiring), the current flowing through the jumper cables is going to cause a big voltage loss and...
